I would say bonus points to be awarded only with the selfie ;) No selfie, no bonus points...

Excellent news on the tyres :)

Excellent stuff! The box looks like it needs a bit of looking after or there's only going to be 18 left before long. It should have had number 631 proudly displayed and Brachla, Highland on the name plate.

Excellent selfie, quite a journey for you both to arrive at that particular location, well done thanks for joining in.

The Pickled Egg Landlord has sent over a couple of bottles of the customary celebration brew on these occasions!

Re: The FCF AA BOX Challenge 2017-knock off the last 11!!

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Thanks to the efforts of Davie and Chris only 8 boxes remain.

So we have one in Devon, one a short scenic detour off the M6 in Cumbria, three in deepest Wales, two in Scotland, and what will ultimately be the coup de grace I would think.....one in Jersey.

If you can contribute towards the challenge as you drive out and about please do.

The one in the Lakes at Dunmail rise near Grasmere should have gone by now at my own hands, but looks like I haven't been to that part of the Lakes for over 2 years now. Can hardly believe it as I would normally class myself as a regular Lakes visitor.
The 8 remaining boxes in the Challenge.
Here's the full list of the now 8 unclaimed boxes in nice little groupings
South West England
456 Halfway House, Newton Poppleford, Devon: on A3052 (Exeter-Sidmouth) at junction with B3180
Wales
161 Nantyffin, Crickhowell, Powys: on A40 (Abergavenny-Brecon) at junction with Talgarth A479
289 Devil’s Bridge, Ceredigion: at junction with A4120 (Devil’s Bridge-Ponterwyd) and Cwmystwyth B4574
580 Boduan, Gwynedd: on A497 (Nefyn-Pwllheli) around 1 mile south of junction with B4354
North West England
487 Dunmail Raise, Grasmere, Cumbria: on A591 (Grasmere-Keswick) at Raise House south of Thirlmere
Scotland
472 Cambus o’ May, Aberdeenshire: on A93 (Aberdeen-Braemar) near junction with Strathdon A97
753 Glen Dye, Strachan, Aberdeenshire: between Bridge of Dye and Strachan on B974 at junction with Old Military Road
Jersey
687 Trinity, Jersey: at junction of Rue du Presbytere and Rue des Picots, Trinity
Join in if you can! This is the type of evidence required, horizontal Labradors not compulsory :-D

Just remember I am off on a jaunt again next weekend, my route home will 95% likely to include the M6 past the lakes! And two in Aberdeenshire are doable for me on day trips! Watch this space lol

Near miss (about 40 miles away! and a bit of sea) from the most difficult to get box! reported on the Classic car spotting thread by Bobins.!

Anyone else planning a trip to the Channel Islands? Remember when planning which one to go to that Jersey is the only one with a roadside AA Box! ( and it's not at St Helier so take your car or a bike!)

That was the first proper run out for the XM after the fuel pump rebuild. Nah, just Wales being Wales! That car is solid. The engine was completely rebuilt a couple of years ago and most of the hoses replaced.

FCF AA BOX Challenge 2018-...7 left now!!

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

After a couple of years of gradually knocking off AA Boxes, 2018 sees 7 remaining.

Here they are....A box is claimed with an original photograph. The photo could be made a bit more interesting if it includes an animate eg person(s)/dog/horse, or inanimate object eg car/bike as well as the plain old box!

Is your mum in the cast list, either credited or uncredited? She should be - the horse gets a credit!
