Just to add my 2p worth.

I used a freight company to courier my engine and box to BL Auto's when my Activa went there for the engine swap. The engine and box on a pallet, with a light wooden frame around it, clad in some thin plywood for protection was weighed by the freight company at 450kg. Just thought I'd give you a heads up as it's almost double what you're basing it on a couple of pages back :)

A friend of mine who had been looking for an Activa for quite a while bought the green one that was on eBay last week, I tried to convince him he needed this kit but he wasn't having any of it

Xantiamanic, are you going to the CCC Northern Rally this year? My Activa V6 will be there if you want a run in it.

Surely not 450kg David ... that's some 990lbs/14 = 74 stone (ish) .... must've been a heavy pallet and ply :)

It IS an aluminium block isn't it?

There's a thread over on the 205 GTi forum with a load of PSA engine weights. The ES9J4 is apparently 215kg complete with ancillaries and manifolds but no fluids. The ML5 gearbox is 50.5kg.

Thats moreorless what i thought although its the opinions of those in the know that really counts here. Anyone able to confirm Davids 450kg figure? That seems mighty heavy to me for an aluminium block. I think it does equate to around the 450lb mark though so maybe that explains it.

There's a picture on the thread of an ES9 on a scale and it comes in at 182kgs without manifolds and ancillaries so 215 is about right. The figures are apparently taken from workshop manuals.

Interesting! Must of been his pallet scale that was way off calibration! He was checking that it was under half a ton and it was so it wasn't really an issue. I'd estimated around 250kg and was gobsmacked when he told me that so it does make sense that it's about half that!

The thread is here... 6th post down has a long list of weights of all PSA 90s motors, the pic of a V6 on a scale is the last on the first page. .

http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.ph ... 614&page=9

There's a list of gearbox weights later in the thread.

The Xantia on eBay wasn't advertised as a Xantia or Activa... The title of the auction was just the number plate, it only popped up under "Xantia Related Searches".

A friend of mine bought that car and seems to be very pleased with it.
