Th engine would be the first thing on the pallet I'd imaginexantiamanic wrote:So the hoist would hoist the pallet AND the engine?

Wil it lift as one unit? Presume you double up the pallet straps AND engine lifting chains together?CitroJim wrote:Engine and gearbox together...

Yes, it's how you get it in and out of the engine bayxantiamanic wrote:Wil it lift as one unit? Presime you double up the pallet straps AND engine lifting chains together?CitroJim wrote:Engine and gearbox together...

[emoji5] ... I mean do you 'lift' the pallet AND engine together into a van so that straps and chains take the weight. I'm asking cos i'll be needing to, as per BOL speak, do the same in reverse order at this end otherwise i'll never get it out and the hire company will never get their van back!

Goodo ... so it should lift out at this end just fine. Next logistical problem will be getting it to the shed. I've got two motionless activas blocking the way! Maybe i'll just build a shed around it where it drops from the van [emoji1]

I couldn't possibly condone nicking a supermarket trolley and cutting the top half off and using the bottom part as an engine trolley to push it around easily on - hard surface needed obviously but it works well

Drag at least one activa out of the way and reverse said van right up to the open doors, open rear doors and attach engine hoist via straps to the pallet, then lift it about an inch off the bed of the van and drive the van out. Simples

Not wanting to sound rude but with two activas stood already what would it take to get one running and is a V6 activa conversion within your capabilities ? Either way good luck with the project .

You're quite right ... how rude [emoji1]
It would take front and rear activa rams, hydraulic pipes and at least one electrovalve that i know of to fix one activa. The other, despite being in reasonable nick mechanically, needs the engine out to fix a leaking core plug (it blew the day after an mot, bad luck eh!) Dont forget i also have a v6 standing nearby needing the rear shuts welded up also. Other than that all's well. I too doubt my abilities at all times, I have none to speak of, but we can all dream can't we and who knows , one day i may just surprise everyone ... and myself [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1]. Just dont expect it to be soon. I'm a slow burner ... it's a long term project unless SWMBO gets her way. I'm a glass half empty kinda guy at the best of times. I've seen too many occasions when someone's piled in, too full of themselves, massively overestimating their abilities and making a right pigs lug of a job to not appreciate that this will take some time to accomplish. But as Jim says ... it's just like eating an elephant, you do it in small pieces (see ... I'm learning Jim [emoji5] ). Bear in mind that i first need to lift the engine out of an activa (is S1 or S2 the better, i'm spoilt for choice)... another job i've no experience of and will need hand holding all the way. Should be fun eh!! Any how I've got nothing better to do with my time and it beats gardening hands down!
