After driving V6 Xantia automatics for 10 years, I currently have an XM with the same engine and manual transmission.elma wrote:Must be, you have the only manual one. I thought you'd get the highest economy here.Stickyfinger wrote:My "style" of driving is giving me 22mpg .....am I naughty ?

I had a Honda Shuttle auto with (probably) the same engine, though it might have been a 2.3 Auto. Economical it was not :Oelma wrote: it was in a 2.2 Honda that drank fuel, put me off a bit.
Uh, surely the XM is heavier ? How about an Apples to apples comparison...xantia_v6 wrote:After driving V6 Xantia automatics for 10 years, I currently have an XM with the same engine and manual transmission.elma wrote:Must be, you have the only manual one. I don't think my driving style has changed much, but I can't get better milage from the manual than the auto. The auto pulls less RPM in top gear than the manual, which might have something to do with it.
When you say "just", you mean just over 6 months ago for legal reasons, right?fatherjack2002 wrote: I've just done a round trip of 360miles From Lincoln to Newcastle at the weekend, mostly A1/Motorway including about 25 miles urban driving .
Maintaining an average of 90mph on motorways
If you care to check the specifications, you may find that the XM is 80 kg heavier than the Xantia. When cruising the Autorotes in the Xantia, I would typically have had 100 kg more luggage than I currently carry in the XM.Mandrake wrote:Uh, surely the XM is heavier ?
