Re: Citroen dispatch 2l hdi non starter (veg/bio probably used)
Earth leads taken off and all shiney now replaced main positive cable so that's also all shiney now
as for the glowplugs they are getting power but as far as I'm aware trawling through pretty much all the hdi non start posts this would not stop it from starting
crank speed I'm happy with now it sounds much better
So it cranks at the right rpm it has the 200+bar pressure what is left to rule out I presume after those it would come down to injectiors? Anyone??

Wondering whether the fuel cut-off solenoid is kept powered up when you let go of the IGN switch?jambo1uk wrote:I have tried a new battery and it nearly goes until I let go of the key...
If not, fuel supply will be cut.
Sounds as if something is beginning to fire (should be better than that, I know) and then stops.
IGN switches (contact wear) have been a problem on Citroens.
Check with a test lamp or meter connected to the cut-off solenoid terminal, and watch what happens as you try to start.
If supply to it is unreliable, make a temporary connection to +12 and see if it will start.

Fancy giving me a clue as to where that is or is it the one that's in the pump housing? I'll see if I can find out where it is thanks

Usually in the pump housing, connection with a single wire.
Haynes may have a shot of it.
Alternatively someone with a 2.0 HDi might be able to post a photo.

Had meter on the selenoid gets power with cranking and normal position drops to about 9 v under cranking changed injectors back to originals now I have a airlock that won't budge and it's not sounding like it wants to fire I changed them back as the 2 I know are good are class 1 and the ones that were in it were class 2 and it says not to mix them any more ideas guys?

Re: Citroen dispatch 2l hdi non starter (veg/bio probably used)
Had a look through some tech sheets and it says not to mix class 1 and class 2 injectors now the ones that we in the van are class 2 the ones I know are OK are class 1 so I put them all back to the ones that were in it and it just cranks I then replaced the 2 class 1S into the two rhs cylinders then it cranks and try to start so am I right in guessing that it may be the injectors and is there any way of testing them at home (done resistance test with multimeter)

Did you replace or take off and look at / test the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel pump, not quite sure if you have, but a bit of reading has shown they can be a problem, if your's is like my 2009 Dispatch, it's on the top back of the HP fuel pump in an awkward to get to place.
I also assume you've got the siemens system, so don't have an intank pump that has failed/failing?
Fuel pressure should be 298bar when cold, and drops a bit as it warms up.

Well done! Perseverance does pay off...most of the time. There's nothing quite like that feeling when it finally falls into place.

Great, did you just get another two working injectors? And did you find out what the problem with the old ones were?

No I replaced the 4 I had a mate get them as I was taking my wife to an appointment I would say they were blocked as when I removed them no 4 cylinder was caked to hell the 4 came from a know n working engine so no guess work thankfully and after trying the originals with no sign of starting and a bit of turnover and chug chug with the 2 decent ones I figured it was worth trying them all replaced I'm just happy it's all sorted

That's really good, sometimes it is just a simple cheap fix that does it then! I'm still waiting for my happy dispatch day..
