The long ones are still available after-market. I know that mr auto is not to be mentioned again in this thread, but...

I have just been given the numbers of 3 dealers who allegedly have a cable. The last 3 ever. Watch this space or else it is the longest one on the bay, there is some claiming to be for the activa, v6 and 2.1rd.

I have a dealer has one, finding out postage cost just now as we speak. He is gonna do a deal as it is old stock and if I don't buy it maybe no one ever will. Awaiting an email with postage cost and cost of cable [emoji4]

I am keeping the dealers names secret for just now. You will be the first to know I would think Jim [emoji4]

Ref transfers phoned me. They admit they don't own Jim's number but would contact the owner this afternoon and call me back with the date I can get it [emoji13] [emoji12] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

Was that one I sent to Jim of any help? It did say it was for a V6, so should have been long enough.

It also said it was for a 1.6 and 1.8 I think James, so I'm wary of it. The one I originally bought said it was for a v6 and an activa on the listing and it's not. Thanks for looking though, but I'm going to stick with the dealer who has it in stock and referenced the reg number and the VIN. Surely it will be the correct article this time.

Looking at it again, it said it was suitable for all Xantais James.

Clearly it is not and therein lies the problem  This is why so many have ended up with the wrong cable..

It is irresponsible of the advertiser in my opinion and putting a too-short cable on is dangerous with a capital D

There are only 2 on eBay that I have found to be the correct one, and most of the others say they are suitable for all xantia models, as did the one I actually bought as a set of two. Interestingly one of the correct ones is for the left rear handbrake so I wouldn't trust it either. Heaves a choice of 1.

Excellent :-D I'm now feeling much better after my lengthy period (by my standards) of not being well and the decks are nicely cleared so that if the weather and my health are up to it tomorrow I can get a bit more done. At least fit the one good handbrake cable I have here...

I'm hoping to have assistance lined up for this weekend to refit the 'box and then, once that's done it's all just straightforward reassembly...
