Re: Davie's Activa Clutch
I've just been looking at flights to Luton. This is nearly unbelievable, from Inverness to Luton, any weekday, leave INS 11.20 am, 1 hr 20 min flight price £25! Leave INS 20.55 1hr 20mins price £17! How does easyjet manage to do it so cheap? From Aberdeen there is only one easyjet at 20.50, again 1 hr 20 min £47. Try British airways and you get to Gatwick or Heathrow, none of them nearly so good for the authorised activa appreciation area, from £97 upwards! Aberdeen or Inverness no difference for me really. I can get a bus to either. About 2 to 2&1/2 hrs to either. So I expect it will be an orange bird from the highlands for me to get down, or for me to put a nice man onto if I take up his kind offer to drive my car back to Northern territory [emoji39]

If you come down, don't forget your Factor 300 sun cream and protective glasses. You lot from up there need it down here, it's at least 10c !

I can but there's not much to see Mike!xantiamanic wrote:Got a picture of the t'other side of the box now that it's out Jim?
How much do you reckon that box weighs?
About 40Kgs I'd say at a guess. Not light and bulky!
That is amazing!daviemck2006 wrote:I've just been looking at flights to Luton. This is nearly unbelievable, from Inverness to Luton, any weekday, leave INS 11.20 am, 1 hr 20 min flight price £25! Leave INS 20.55 1hr 20mins price £17! How does easyjet manage to do it so cheap?
Shame you can't take the car back as cabin baggage!!!
I guess than cheaper than coach travel?

Re: Davie's Activa Clutch
Not much progress to report on this job recently due to a combination of other things needing my attention, the X Rally, the weather and me not being well enough
I had hoped to get the gearbox in today but sadly, after trying I realise it's not really possible on my own unless I have four paired of very long arms and six sets of eyes
I've requested assistance from the usual sources...
Meanwhile I'm doing a few fill-in jobs such as getting the disc off the offside hub and replacing the handbrake cables...
Handbrake cables are normally easy. Not on a bloody Activa... The exhaust heat shield and the roll corrector gets well in the way
It's quite a gynaecological job to do...

I proudly present:
The other side!

Re: Davie's Activa Clutch
You would certainly need help to get that big heavy box back in Jim. Is it going to be team WFA to the rescue? I, as said before, wish I was within distance of you to pop over and do my bit, but I would struggle to be back for work for 4 pm lol. The 107 is nippy for what it is, but not quite that fast [emoji23]

Re: Davie's Activa Clutch
Team WFA have been summoned and have responded
I find I have the wrong NS (LH) Handbrake cable just as I go to fit them... It's the cable for the smaller engined Xantias and it's far too short for the TCT...
It's often the case that the wrong one is supplied by the factors although in this case there's no excuse as the bag it came in says it excludes the TCT! parts lists aren't always very clear on the difference. I discovered this when I wanted on for my old 2.1TD.
What we need is the cable specific to the TCT, V6, 2.1TD and 110HDi... They're not plentiful in the aftermarket and one may take a bit of tracking down... Quinten Hazell once could supply. Hope they still can or it may now be a dealer only job...
Main thing is, I managed to get to the compensator and release the old cables... As with all Activa jobs, there's just room for girly fingers in there...
All I know is the cables are easier to replace with no gearbox fitted!!!
Sorry Davie, another potential delay

Re: Davie's Activa Clutch
I'm now going to go to Duthies of Montrose, main dealer 100 miles from me. I phone them pay £2.80 extra and they post immediately. I did that for some parts and Jim got them the next day. That's service for you.

Re: Davie's Activa Clutch
From what I can see on the bay of e there are cables that are 1316mm long or 1262 mm

Re: Davie's Activa Clutch
1262mm is the overall length of the 'small engine' cable but to my thinking a 1316mm seems a tad too short - that's more like the length of the RH cable!
Still the very best to go to the dealer for the right cable Davie!
The old LH cable came out in two parts and the old RH cable is seized solid so neither are any good to use again!
