Davy,

If all else fails, we could do an Activa relay. If you're not fit to drive it all the way home and Ben's unable to get it all the way, I could collect it from Jim somewhere on the East Coast and either store it at mine for a while till you can come down or take it up a bit further for you to come down.

Whatever happens, we'll not see you stuck. It's been great reading this thread just to see how everybody mucks in to help each other out. Really makes you appreciate what these forums have done to introduce people. My friends see my cars as just that, "cars", they don't understand the fact that I've made some bloody good friends through my "old Citroens".

David.

Aren't you somewhere near Glasgow David? I could drive it to yours, and fly back easy from Glasgow, and Davie could pick it up at his convenience, if my other plan fails. I've got a friend who wants to go train/bus/fly to John O' Groats, buy an old cheap car and drive down to Lands End without using a motorway (Jim - it's Pete!) We might have concocted a plan involving a certain 205 that lives near Davie...

I also don't mind, as I said, driving it all the way up to Davie and just flying back or whatever. I generally get plenty of time off in the week..

I've just had smart meters installed. I have a display in the house now to show my consumption of gas and electric. I don't understand how to read an interpret it yet!

Stupid things bug the [emoji90] out of me. Just typed a long reply and it disappeared when my tablet played silly bugger. The plan I will be quite happy with is if Mr Bens friend wants an elderly 205 which needs a little tlc. It's not far from me at all, approx 1/2 a mile to be exact. It's a shame for it that is chucked into a lockup when someone could be driving about in it. However I'm sure a plan of some kind will get sorted out nearer the time. It still has to get down to Jim's and the clutch done yet!

It sure does Peter. It shows how folk in this forum, even if we never actually meet, look out for each other. I always say internet friends can be as good if not better than real ones.

There's a woman I am really good friends with, we speak every other night, we have never met, she recently moved to 10 miles away out from Aberdeen, 45 miles distant. Her hubby knows she chats on the internet, and has no problem with it. That's just one example, there are others. And I have met some of the guys offering to help out myself just now, their help and offers and support when I lost the plot on Thursday is so much appreciated.

Davie, you did NOT lose the plot on Thursday, it ended up parked in a siding while an urgent express was heading the other way.

That's a good day of putting it. I never really lose it, always managed to find it again up untill today. And just cos I have been seriously ill in the past, and in recovery, does not mean that I am immune to s**t days.

That's ok. A new one can be had off eBay for little money really, if I decide I really want one. It would only be for towing a camping trailer or small caravan if I am going to attempt down for any shows this year. However if I am going to do a road trip in the summer it will probably be simple, cheap bed and breakfast places.

If the car had had a mot you could have towed a heavy trailer with that, and at 60 mph on a motorway when it snapped. Serious stuff really

No need of a towbar if you have a small tent and camp Davie...
