As an 'ex public sector employeer' i take exception to that remark.

My Mrs had a similar experience in IKEA (Yeah, I know....!)

We'd bought a sofa bed, but the wrong mattress had been supplied, so after struggling into the shop with it

Bought this bed, and got the wrong mattress
OK, but there's only 1 mattress for that bed
Yes, but this isn't it
But there's only 1 mattress for that bed
Yes, and this still isn't it
etc etc a few times before assistant finally understood.

Can someone help me to the car with it?

No

Ran into an online version of this yesterday! GSF's website won't let you just browse all parts of a given type, it demands you enter a reg number. Given I was after something to be used on the Sinclair that wasn't going to get me anywhere.

As it is their store is only ten minutes away so I just went and asked in person where they were very helpful as always. Think they must be getting to know me now as I always seem to have "interesting" challenges for them...

Possibly! Always service with a smile so far though and that's all I'm bothered with. Far cry from ECP anyhow! Parts have always been decent branded items too and not made of cheese, again unlike stuff I've had from ECP in the last few years - hence my refusal to use them for anything these days unless I have absolutely no alternative.

Says a lot I think that they tend to ask intelligent questions when checking what parts you need too, such as for the Saab "does it have the Bosch or Lucas ignition system?" When I was getting stuff for its last service. Most places would just stick the reg number in these days and blindly follow what the computer says. Turns out that the reg no actually points to the wrong one in most systems, and I've been down that road before...always surprises me that given that all the 8v cars had the Bosch system, only the 16v ones had the Lucas system.
