Cost £180 for the conversion kit
£175 for fitting
So total off £355.

Hope it helped

I might be about to eat my words.... clutch went in our Picasso this morning - suspect the release bearing has destroyed itself

Got too much on, and the garage is full of plaster board, so going to get the garage at work to fix it. Just got to work out how to get it the 30 miles from here to there.... And steel myself for the £800 or so bill

Managed to drive it to the garage - no problem really, it just screeches as soon as the clutch is pressed. Surprising how many gear changes you can avoid if you have to!! Wondering if I should factor in a pre-emptive clutch change in the summer on the 307 which will be nearing 120k by then....

Now fixed, although not driven it back from the garage. The clutch was not that worn, but the release bearing was totally mullered, which had taken out the inlet guide tube, and the fingers on the release fork had taken some wear, so all those were replaced. DMF didn't look too bad, but was changed as well (180 + VAT) Subframe had to come out, but the front bolts captive nuts broke loose so had to be welded back in. All that plus MOT, 2 new handbrake cables and a headlamp bulb left just about enough change from a grand for a (small!) round. Over £500 in parts, and 10 hours labour, so pretty glad I wasn't tackling it in the rain.

Clutch is noticeably smoother in operation when taking up the drive, so it was perhaps more worn than it appeared. Clutch on the 307 has had a slight judder on pulling away since I've had it, needs about 1200 rpm to prevent it - so should perhaps be thinking about changing that one before it goes critical!

Petrol manual cars don't need clutch changes then? [-X

My experience is the exact opposite. Going back to my first diesel car nearly 25 years ago I reckoned that I could make three journeys to France and back for the money I saved compared to the petrol engine car I had previously used.

Since then I have continued to reap the benefits of diesel in different cars; more relaxed driving style, less gear changing, better fuel economy, much cheaper fuel in Europe, less costs in servicing.

Apologies for :offtopic: but I couldn't let that past without comment.

We are talking about 1.6hdi diesels which rather flatter to deceive. Petrols don't have DMF, So a clutch change is lots cheaper. They don't have turbo's to fail either in that output class, or dpf.
If you think that running a 1.6 hdi is going to better my Honda Jazz on overall costs per mile........no chance. Maybe ask Richard how much he has spent on 1.6hdi's?
Old diesels?................. The Donk is my 15th. Feckin' good old gen/set engines :rofl2:

Guys quick update as to the drive off it now.
Its not too bad a bit heavier than the standard clutch, changes and everything else is the same as a standard clutch tho.

If you have used a Valeo Kit4P the difference are minimum and much much longer lifespan than the DMF.

Because, the Kit4P flywheel is as heavy as the OEM DMF flywheel hence the minimum differences.

I have fitted several of the Kit4P on 1.6Hdi and 2.0Hdi and drives identical.
