Dave - doesn't the BSI need to know you have replaced the ECU using the Lexia first? and secondly did you follow points 1-9 with the foot on brake / ignition routine as per Jim's guide? Had to ask, as it could be something like this that won't let you proceed if it's not happy!

Have you tried re programing the clutch & gear change actuators with Lexia ? You need to do this with an ECU change whether its new or used as it will be set up to a different car. Will it start if you feed the starter motor direct ? obviously make sure the car is 100% in neutral by rolling it & have someone have there foot hard on the brake before trying this.

The car starts and runs fine if i hot wire the starter solenoid. I've knocked the car into neutral via the selector under the air cleaner box. I cant get the clutch or actuator to reprogram as it always comes back with a communication error - making me think its in the communication between BSI and GB ECU. The fact that the actuator rattled a couple of times before going back to the "-" makes me think thats maybe OK.
I've done the battery disconnect and brake on 30secs routine a lot of times now and never has any effect - the selectors never move.
How do I tell the BSI there's a new GB ECU = thats something I havent tried yet.
