I don't know why, but you know the French; a law unto themselves. There is a known issue (carried over from the Xantia) with a weird corrosion caused between the calliper and the trailing arm that pushes the calliper off at an angle, affecting the rear brakes quite badly;

I started doing the rear discs and pads on my first c5 then gave up. The alloy caliper has a nasty habit of disintegrating where the bolt holding the pads in is also. It can be a simple job, it can be a real bitch. I hope you get the former. Glad it's not the radius arm bearings for you.

I have these to do on Donk. Grrr. PO's garage has ground the bolt heads on calipers at an angle. This has been to clear the wheel and stop it catching. There is only half of head left on all of them :evil:
I have new discs pads and calipers. Also new long bolts and washers. I plan on welding big nuts on to the remaining bolt heads.
I still have brake pressure on rear and an Mot till end of net May. I am really trying to force myself to do this in the cold, and not succeeding :lol:

What a nightmare! Squeak came back with a vengeance and with the floods we've had here in Cumbria I didn't get chance to change the discs and pads, I put it into the garage who did them today, turns out the rear drivers calliper (which is where the squeak was) was completely knackered hence only half the disc being worn. Also quite a large buildup of corrosion between the calliper and mounting plate was causing issues. It now had one new calliper and new disc and pads fitted and most importantly the drive back from the garage was whisper quiet. Fingers crossed that's the annoying squeak sorted! Thanks for everyone's help, I'm glad that I didn't attempt to do the brakes myself as no doubt it would have ended badly as I'm not the most patient of people.
