Noticed today that my temperature is rising too much. I have a 3km hill to climb to get home and about 500metres is quite steep (2nd or 3rd gear). The temp got to just bellow 100°C so I stopped and checked if the fans are working. They did but I am certain that they were working just on 1st stage...

I read somewhere that it might be the relay on the fans "controlling" unit. Is that the most possible cause? A fuse perhaps? Just that I know where to start looking...

I tried to turn the AC on when I got home, but there was no response from the fans. The AC is out of gas that I know (because I didn't need to fill it after the engine rebuild as it was not so hot any more :-D ) but should the fans start nevertheless? Of course every test was made with the engine on...

I really need to get this sorted because I don't want to destroy the engine head just 10kkm after the engine rebuild. And I was really nice to the car when driving. Never over 3000rpm. Ok maybe once or twice when overtaking 8-)

Often this is because one fan has gone open-circuit Xantos.. In slow they run in series so if one is faulty the other one won't run...

Often it is brush issues and the fans can be provoked into working by poking them with a stick.

These are loads of posts on this forum covering fan issues!

Alasdair, if you bin your old TCT Activa, keep the fans and motors, they do fail regularly and are getting scarce.. I've seen off two on mine...

They both run in slow but neither fast. And both not running at all if AC on.

Coffee on offer and a fresh egg sarnie. You could even camp the night in the Hen House. I would put fresh straw in it for you and Beryl is pretty with yellow legs (which would be a talking point)
