Don't even do that, just run one on normal Citroen servicing

Re: 2 stroke
Well today I found myself thinking that the Xantia was sounding more clattery, especially at idle than normal. After a few minutes the penny dropped, I fuelled up a couple of days back and forgot to stick the usual splash of 2-stroke oil in, didn't I.
Stuck it in today, and next time the car went out it seemed to be back to what I have come to expect as normal.
So it definitely does seem to make some difference!

In my opinion this is homoeopathy for cars. Its a 3000 - 1 dilution, too small to make a difference. I tried similar idea with whiskey and water and it didn't work.

Re: 2 stroke
I'd definitely agree based on the logic of it! If you'd suggested the idea to me I'd have discounted it save for the fact a few folks I trust said it helped their cars, so thought I'd give it a try for a few quid given it wasn't going to hurt.
Reckon my test for placebo effect is going to be me getting my other half to add (or not) the 250-300ml I usually stick in the tank for the next few fills and keep a tally of whether I'm right. Random number generator will be used to determine if it gets the oil or not.
...given a tank lasts me a month or two sadly this will take a while.

Was that 3000 parts whisky to 1part water lol. NB scotch whisky, none of your Yankee or Irish whiskey here [emoji13] [emoji12] [emoji23] [emoji23]doctle wrote:In my opinion this is homoeopathy for cars. Crack at the Mick eh? I nearly choked on my Glenfiddich! Of course technically Bushmills Whiskey is made in Northern Ireland and would therefore be a UK whiskey, E and all! Anyway I digress, my experiment wasn't very well set up. You get a decent size glass say 1/3 of a pint and put your index finger in up to the web. Add water until the tip of your finger is wet and add 1/4 teaspoon of alcohol. It still looks and tastes like water. Doing it the other way about you get what used to be called a fingers length of whiskey. (I like bourbon too, Makers Mark is Kentucky whisky)daviemck2006 wrote:Was that 3000 parts whisky to 1part water lol. Re: 2 stroke
Years ago the old diesel heads said to add a pint of petrol to half a tank of diesel every month to burn carbon and clean injectors. I still do it but more out of habit than belief!
