I like that James 8-) :-D

No mucky vans this morning, just lots of abandoned e-scooters... The photo shows just two of many in 4 miles of funning around town... I didn't mean to type 'funning' but on reflection it fairly describes my enjoyment of running :D

I'm somewhat ambivalent about e-scooters. They are a bit of a pest when they are simply abandoned in the middle of a pavement and they are a menace on the pavements when they silently come up behind you at some fair pace with absolutely no warning... Hopefully, as time goes by some etiquette will develop whereby people will sensibly park them and ride them with a little consideration... Neither happens very much currently...

Never would I even think of hiring one. I'd rather walk or run but having said that, for those who may be unable to move any distance under their own steam for whatever reason they may be a solution...

We don't have them for hire around here, Newcastle is the closest, but they might make my trip to the shops less of an effort and make me look even sillier than usual.

Can one attach a trailer?

I've not seen one towing a trailer but I see no reason why one might not tow a small bike trailer...

Indeed, I believe for the kind of trips you envisage using one for they are ideal and for many they could be a game-changer :)

Out on my bike today in glorious sunshine 8-) Around here the annual hedge cutting and verge tidying extravaganza is in full swing and a lot of our countryside is looking very neat as a result :-D

I met up with this monster... The photo does not do justice to just how big it is.. The road is fairly wide - loads of room for two cars to pass easily - and it was taking up three quarters of it. Oncoming cars were having to drive half on the verge to pass it...

The work leaves a terrible mess on the road and it can be risky for cyclists as fairly often material capable of causing a puncture is spread all across the road, especially when miscellaneous debris from the verge is disturbed...

My tyres both survived it... It's very windy today so it'll all soon be blown away ;)

It could have been worse. It could have been that machine that looked like somebody had pinched the rotor blades from a helicopter and made a hedge cutter with them, remember!

That looks like a scene from a s**t horror film. One in which a malevolent being is doing away with e-scooter riders, and leaving their scooter as a warning. Made scarier by there being two in shot and no people..

Sounds like ideal territory for one of your duathlon type events Jim, "On spying the hedge trimmer you must dismount, shoulder your bike and run past the debris stricken area!!" :-D

I've very definitely been on the run today :-D 16 and a quarter miles around the Ryton Pools Country Park close to the former Peugeot assembly plant not far from Coventry...

Nothing really unusual in that but the weather was given that it is still very early in February...

I was, for the first time in a few months, able to run happily with bare arms, no hat or gloves whilst wearing only a single layer :-D

It was quite warm in the sunshine...

And it was a bloody good run. Well over a hundred of us took part and mostly all old friends... It was a great social occasion and a great day out...
