Looks like a little too ambitious again, one day one day we will achieve the magnificent seven.NewcastleFalcon wrote: 20 Nov 2022, 14:32 But, are there any other FCF members who will follow your good example. Lets not be too ambitious.
Let's set a target of another half a dozen different shutter clickers by the end of the day. How difficult is it![]()
So far we have had picture contributions on today's POTD from the famous five,
Shutter clicker number 1 Steve
Shutter clicker number 2 Mick
Shutter clicker Number 3 Yours truly
Shutter clicker nymber 4 Jim
Shutter clicker number 5 James
Looks like the full list for today unless someone takes a picture of their sideboard or beer bottle.

Hope at least one or two looked up happy to chat benches, a happy random discovery today on the back of taking a picture of a wasp. Lots of folk out there appreciate a chat, and have tales to tell.
Happy to chat benches are a thing.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-50000204

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Well, how about this for a POTD.
I have been cultivating these Cotoneasters since we moved in 16 years ago. I have been bringing on cuttings, potting them on and training/pruning them along with the Box hedges I planted along the front fence. This family of Wood pigeons (3 of them) have been feeding off the berries for years now.
However....
I have declared war on the starlings which have messed up our path at the front door, the roof of our sitootery and our cars. They have blocked both front and rear downpipes with grasses, twigs and mud. I tried Hedgehogs in the gutters before - that didn't stop them. They have been nesting up under my roof since we moved in and I have now gone nuclear with steel spikes in the gutters and rolled up galvanised mesh in the eaves holes.
I at least waited until the nesting season was over for this year before evicting them! This has taken me weeks to finish, hopefully they will move on eventually. They have been back everyday trying to pull the steel spikes out!

All day yesterday, in all the rain and cold, I was marshalling and busy working in the aid station during an ultra marathon event in Salcey Forest...
From my marshal point - lots of lovely mud!

I'm not sure, but this gateway might be a portal to another dimension as it doesn't seem to be serving any other purpose

I suspect bobins that that was the result of the farmer telling a walker to shut the gate and he obviously took offense!!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I've got one Peter, one of those little Baofeng 2m/70cm ones that can be got from Amazon for £35! It's an amazing little thing and great for chatting through local repeaters...
I did have a radio with me as for safety reasons as there's almost no mobile phone reception in the depths of the forest... We marshals are there to both direct the runners and to ensure if they get into trouble we can summon help from race HQ rapidly, especially in the case of a medical emergency. We're all well versed in first aid and most of us are defib. trained...

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
One of the official photos of me on the finish line at our night race on Wednesday in a very soggy Salcey Forest
See how hard it's raining!!!
Kaz, the photographer, did a great job of getting some great pictures in the dark and not spooking the camera with our head torch lights...
She did it with some rather snazzy variable colour temperature LED floodlights... I helped her set up and acted as her model before the race started to ensure she had exposures, focus and her floods right... I had to make a great many dummy finish runs until she as happy... It worked!

Super little radios those Jim, I have a couple of 'Hesenate' radios very similar to yours and about the same price. Good power, battery life and transmit/ receive audio quality.

They're all Chinese clones and rip-offs of the genuine Baofeng radio Peter, Mine's called an eSync...Peter.N. wrote: 25 Nov 2022, 11:26 Super little radios those Jim, I have a couple of 'Hesenate' radios very similar to yours and about the same price. The features they pack into them are amazing and yes indeed, great audio quality on both TX and RX and amazing receive sensitivity too...
They're impossible to program from the Chinglish manual but happily, lots of good guides on how to program them are on the web. It's worth investing in the programming software and dongle for it too as manually programming all 2M and 70cm channels, repeater shifts and CTCSS settings manually is a bit of a long and tedious task!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I've never tried programming mine Jim I don't have a digital brain and I don't understand the instruction book. My 2m Yaesu mobile/base has menus and submenus and I have only one repeater programmed in, I wouldn't have that except a very kind American man has made a video of how to do it. I have to put the video on and do one step at a time, stopping the video between steps.
There is hardly any 2m activity down here, I leave the radio on in the office but very rarely hear anyone but with a little bit of a lift I can get into the Brighton, Worthing and Eastbourne areas which do seem to be a bit busier.

A friend of mine bringing a bit of French flair to our run this morning
Shame she drives a German car...
The event was the MK edition of MoRun which raises funds for Movember Foundation, the charity dedicated to men's health... Fancy dress was encouraged so I went as a runner...
