Just the angle, it flew off about 3 seconds later.

Well I took a few photos recently, but have only put them on the PC today. Then, while I was reading other posts, these two flew past!

Reading. It was due to be taken down sooner, but a pair of peregrine falcons had other plans.

The photograph was taken down Cumberland Road, with the "Sri Guru Singh Sabha" Gurdwara on the right (where the flagpole is).

Reply number 7777 for the number noticers. :-D

The "By Appointment" Declaration

Gloriously Traditional, proudly displayed, and a feather in the cap for the recipients.

Interesting as to how they arrived at the decisions, or indeed choose the categories which are worthy of the "by appointment" process.

Maybe one day over breakfast the small talk in the Royal household came round to the subject of Electric Suction Sweepers, and which company was the best at it, the jams and marmalades, and breakfast cereal makers having already been given suitable by appointment accolades.

My first guess when I saw it has turned out to be correct after a delve. Marc should be able to step in with a bit of local knowledge.

Well done all, Tenby it most certainly is and thanks for the idea bobins, next stop Tobermory!! I got 4 puzzles from the charity shop to keep SWMBO occupied during her restricted movement and I have now completed them so I'll give them back to the shop to sell again and see if I can find somewhere else of interest!! :-D

Dormouse wrote: 08 Oct 2021, 14:29 I had no idea about the St Mary's church but I Wikied Ragnar and also got the gist of Ragnarok on there as well. I did a search for churches with Norse/viking connections and then trawled a very large number of churches until I came across one in Visit Cumbria - bingo.

In years gone by it would have been Encyclopedia Brittanica, a darkened room and a doctor's line to find these answers.
In my spoiler I mentioned that I had stayed near Tenby for a holiday in 1972/1973 ish. Well with the magic of a whole load of information on the internet I can comfirm it was 1973. One of the things my Dad always used to wangle into a holiday was a bit of first class cricket. Back in the 1970's the John Player Sunday League 40 Over matches on a Sunday were on and on that holiday we drove to Swansea to go to the Glamorgan v Kent John Player League Match. I remember it was not much of a contest as Kent bowled out Glamorgan for under 100, and Brian Luckhurst in particular made short work of knocking off the runs.

Well the internet has produced the scorecard for that match and it was on 29th July 1973
