Back to hunting down picturesque churches on my bike ride today... This is a very fine one complete with Commonwealth War Graves...

I'll enjoy a ponder Jim.

An aside.
On BBC1 Countryfile right now, and no doubt available from I-Player, was featuring the Hambleton Valley in Buckinghamshire. I didn't realise the Vicar of Dibley Church was in Bucks, or indeed the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Windmill. Probably a bit South of your normal stomping ground.

Took the car to my son's and spotted these on my way home. Purple nettles.
Can't recall ever seeing any other than white nettle flowers before.

One wonders at what point did the builders realise they'd have to put two holes in the roof to allow the sluice gates to open ? :-D

They looked just like nettles. There is a lot of Honesty in the hedgerows around here but only ever seen white flowers.

The 'nettles' that take over the ground under my rose bushes are always purple, I've never even considered what else they could be apart from a damned nuisance. :)

No doubt a relic from the industrial past and higher purple smoke emissions from ICI at Billingham!! :-D

Billingham is in the deep South Mick. The potassium permanganate factories are a long way from here!

You wouldn't think the local brewery at Consett would nostalgically name one of their stock beers after the pollution from the Iron and Steel Works which cloaked the town for decades :-D

Allegedly the inspiration for the scenery in Blade runner

Ridley Scott was from South Shields and then Hartburn, near Stockton, and crossed the Tees flyover regularly.

Hardly a great picture, but one snapped today while I was out made me smile purely because it looks like an absolutely normal day in the Westcroft Retail Park car park until you look very closely and spot the one thing not like all the others. Kind of a case of automotive Where's Wally?

Did a great job of capturing how lovely the weather was too I think.
