Oh gosh!

Paint?
Yep. Been doing some work at daughter's while she is in hospital. Should have known better than to put opened paint tins in the car.

As I like to do, I have selected a page at random from all of Peter's posts. Struck a wordy page from 2010 so you will have to make your own pictures. I have highlighted the paragraph which caught my attention and which you may be able to visualise....
Peter.N. wrote: 16 Oct 2010, 10:07 Hi Ian

My estate has comfort spheres which I find quite acceptable but on the hatch rear the ride is a bit nautical.

My 5 series is an estate with rear air suspension which I understand does make the ride harder and is only comparable with the XM over rough unmade roads, otherwise not nearly as good a ride.

Tyre type and pressures can have a marked effect on the ride, unless I am carrying a full load I tend to run mine a little underinflated which makes quite a difference at low speed, the figures given are assuming a full load. The BMW gives different pressures for fully and partly loaded and they are quite a bit different.

There is quite a variation in tread stiffness between different tyres, what I have done in the past is to get my local friendly tyre fitter to let me 'feel' the tyres on offer, hold them by the edge and press your thumbs into the center of the tread and see how much force is required to push it in.

Peter
Anyone else care to take up "Tyre Feeling" :-D

Well done on the 10,000 Peter!

Regards Neil

Loving the fingerpost sign :) I'm a fan of them and a few years back took many photos of them both around here and in Somerset :D

What railway once ran across that bridge? I'm always interested in disused railways and the remains of them still extant...

That was the old Chichester to Midhurst line. I can still remember the Chichester end up to Lavant being worked as it served the sand and gravel pits - I think some Youtube video exists of one of the last workings under diesel. Midhurst was served from 3 directions back in the day - from Pulborough, from Petersfield, and from Chichester. The track bed from Chichester up to Singleton has been converted to The Centurion Way cycle track, with plans to finish the job up to Midhurst..... though whether that happens in my lifetime is another matter
