The five bar gate, a traditional test of country fitness as in "I can still loup over a five bar gate"

and todays irrelevant trivia about a five bar gate which only Mick stands a chance of getting....
In which Beatles movie was this line scripted

"Aye, but don't rush. None of your five bar gate jumps and over sort of stuff."

and Who said it?

TOH, I think that is from George And Paul's chat in A Hard Days Night before they escape into the field. Can't remember who said what tho!!

Thats close enough Mick, dont know the exact scene myself but it is from A Hard Days Night and it was George Harrison who spoke the line in a chat with Paul. cropped up in a random "five-bar gate query" :-D

Last year at a local country show the falconer picked me out of the crowd and stood me in the show field and got me to make as big a circle with my two arms as I could. He then flew his 'arris 'awk through my arms* In case anyone is wondering, it's just about impossible to keep your eyes open when you've got a hawk bearing down on your left lughole !

*- Now go and make a circle with your arms next to your head and look how much clearance there isn't :rofl2:

No I wasn't there, we had heard about it and kept our ears and eyes open but saw nothing. We were in the garden in Watford preparing for a BBQ and I remember my friend John arriving and asking "Has the Eagle landed?". I had to point out it was the Enterprise and he said he was thinking of the wrong film!! So we saw nothing of it on the day as we worked our way through the booze!! :-D
