Sorry Neil!! So gobsmacked at your sleuthing I completely forgot the necessary acknowledgement
Corrected now, though that has moved you beyond the landmark as I had to do "hearts" to avoid any further accusations of pedanticism, if such a thing exists !!

. . . and wearing a pair of Sennheiser HD414X headphones!
I have a set here, bought in Boots (of all places) for £9.99, in around 1972.
They still knock the sox off several pairs of very expensive Bose's which have appeared from time to time, priced £200+. The genuine yellow foam pads are still available new!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I took Chris's excellent picture and reminded myself of the old pinhole cameras we used to make from shoe boxes:

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Back in the 80s/90s, someone came up with the quote that more energy was used in the design and construction of a modern vehicle than was used during the entire life of an old Series Land Rover. I've no idea if that would stand up to detailed examination, but I like to think it would

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Bit of a link through AR-Online to todays Picture of the Day via a certain Keith Adams. I thought his name was familiar when I reached the end of his little piece for Car magazine on the Budget, and he tagged himself with this...NewcastleFalcon wrote: 12 Mar 2020, 10:04 Nissan car designer at work on the Nissan IMk and the Longbridge Drawing Office 1980's/1940's

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
And another styling link to this one, this time not Pininfarina but Zagato...
Under the skin, a standard Rover 2000TC, from 1967.
Plenty about it on the web (google 'Rover 2000 TCZ'), but briefly, Rover were road testing a 'disguised' 2000TC in southern Europe (Alps, and all that stuff), and one of the pre-production TC's was parked up outside a cafe. A guy apparently wandered across (so the story goes) and said "That must be the new Rover..." - so much for the secrecy! He flattered the test drivers on its appearance, and introduced himself - a Zagato! What he'd give to be able to style it himself...
The word was passed back to Solihull, and they shipped him a white 2000TC, with compliments. In a matter of weeks, back came the re-bodied and re-trimmed car, some of it in fibreglass, and with some rather nice hand-stitched leather interior. The mechanics remained standard.
The car was in Rover's heritage collection for a long time, but passed into private hands some time in the '80s. Driven, but by an owner without much mechanical ability, a friend of mine in Maidstone offered to give it a complete mechanical overhaul for the owner. This took best part of a year to do. During that time, and after the engine overhaul, we had it on the P6ROC exhibition stand at NEC, and I got to drive it across Warwickshire at the end of the show. A fellow club member was following me in his 3500 down a motorway slip road and onto the carriageway, but fell back into the distance. When we got to our destination, Steve just remarked "Sorry, I couldn't keep up!".
The TCZ was (is) a lovely thing. Rover never took it up, but Zagato did offer something very similar to Volvo in 1970, the 3000GTZ:

I'm not feeling too good today but when I first saw that picture Chris I thought it was an Alpine Fastback:
was there any connection do you know?
