I do as I so often feel well and truly spaced out due to my ME

I think it's a phrase of our generation though and not truly understood by the youngsters...

Shame as it's so descriptive :)

No, it won't embed if there is a start time specified Neil. I have tried it before and some combinations just don't work.
You don't even need the url tags though, it works without them
Thanks Steve. ^

I'm afraid I can't resist it I am going to have to go over to The Pickled Egg, and open up the Wurlitzer and slip in Shiela B. Devotion......... :-D

P.O.T.D. Holiday Snaps!

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Title change, Space may have been a bit specialist but impossible to go off topic with this one, easy to join in

Love this nostalgic look at Blackpool with the George Formby soundtrack!

You could call this a holiday snap as these were taken whilst I'm on holiday ;)

Firstly, revisiting an older theme of red clocks... Spotted this today in Sway on a small commercial premises. Rather liked it :)

And this rather lovely Hampshire fingerpost in a locality called East End, not so far from Lymington and Beaulieu...

A bit different to the East End most are familiar with on the tellybox...

Lovely stuff Jim! Bit of satisfaction for me and, with your permission, I may just take a small bit of credit for sowing the "red clock noticing" seed. Quite random that you happened to cycle by one just out of chance, and notice it in what is an incongruous location.

One of the donkeys from Blackpool beach seems to have photobombed your pic of the fingerpost! :-D

Thanks to your inspiration Neil, I'm always on the look-out for interesting picture opportunities for this thread ;) I love doing it too. Shame is I don't always have a camera on me, especially when running... Sod's law says that's when I miss some great opportunities :(

That donkey is a New Forest one belonging to a commoner. Apart from the ponies, cows and pigs, donkeys also roam free. Only today I had to take care due to a skittish young calf who hadn't quite become used to the traffic... A Land Rover had quite spooked it and I had to pass it with caution!

Also, this time of year is the big round-up where the commoners take stock of all their animals that have enjoyed a year of freedom. They see how many have been lost and more importantly, how many youngsters they've gained and can sell on :)

I used to love the old Country Boy/ Old Country/Out of Town programmes with Jack Hargreaves. He was always mooching around the New Forest/Dorset Area. Lovely part of the Country!

It surely is Neil :) I love it down here...

My bike ride was particularly scenic today... Shame it was so hard-going due to intensely strong hadwinds, crosswinds and blustery showers...

The ride through the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive made up for it though :)

Jim, if you can work out the mechanics you could always fit a mast, and then use the wind to propel you. The real trick would be tacking up wind WITHOUT getting taken out by mad car drivers!

P.O.T.D.-Traffic sign of the day!

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

No right turn/no left turn under traffic lights

Urban driving is getting worse. Traffic signs are designed to eventually lead you into buses/taxi's only areas, where you will be trapped in your involuntary transgression by camera.

If you are ever in Newcastle try the Tyne Bridge to High Level Bridge Challenge on the South side (only about 75 yards as the crow flies) without falling foul of buses/taxis only area and no right or left turn infringements!

Oh and you have failed if you find yourself on the opposite carriageway heading back over the Tyne Bridge again!

I was up there a few weeks ago and they had changed the layout significantly.
To get to The Sage I found myself shoved into a detour of approximately three miles and twenty minutes - to go a couple of hundred yards.

You'd be amazed at just how you get propelled along in a good tailwind just by sitting up James...

I reckon a small sail would be great fun :)

Trouble is, an old cyclists maxim says all winds are headwinds and it's almost true

The two pumps on the right could have come from my forecourt, one Avery Hardol and one Beckmeter, they were still in use until 1990 when the new owner stopped selling fuel despite only measuring in gallons.

Excellent!

Personally, I'd still rather buy in gallons even now... Still can't get used to these funny litre things...

Two picture candidates for this thread from my bike ride today...

Firstly, a lovely old garage premises in the wonderfully named village of Tiptoe. Sadly this is no longer a working garage and seems to accommodate some sort of small business unconnected with the automotive trade now :( Note the lovely clock :) It works and keeps good time too...

And then I discovered an impromptu scrapyard out in the middle of nowhere... I was a bit careful about taking photos as it's just a private house with a large garden full of scrappers in various states of decay... The scrappers have spilled out onto the lane and into a sort of lay-by opposite! There's even a Tranny van growing out of a hedge and at least two wrecks still sitting on scruffy recovery vehicles...

No really interesting cars there but the situation is... I guess a bit of a collector of junk. There's even a massive pile of old tyres in the garden plus other nameless rubbish...

In Boldre, I spotted this donkey occupying a bus shelter in the sweltering heat. I can imagine a rainy day where some poor person has to get wet waiting for the bus because a donkey got their first
