I took the mirror out to investigate our big mushroom and it does suggest that it is an edible one, I may investigate further!! :-D

Further to my last post I believe it to be an Agaricus Campestris, or field mushroom. I may carry out a few suggested tests but whatever I find I will not be eating it!! :-D

When I ran the grocery shop a local brought a punnet of freshly picked mushrooms for us to sell, the lady who owned the local castle helped herself to one and ate it raw. Shortly after I could see the punnet moving on the counter as the bugs came to life in the warm. :)

Compared to how it was not that many days back, our river is looking remarkably low today, given the time of year :o

It's been a while since we've had any significant rain and none forecast either...

I expect our water board will soon announce a drought and impose a hosepipe ban...

We get locked in by floods where i am Jim , most of our farmers & i use that word lighty dont bother clearing brooks , dykes or ditches like they used to, 70% of farms where i live are just sitting on masses of land just renting the odd field out as and when they please. Im happy its been dry for a while , id be more pleased if these land owners (farmers) took care of water ways around and on there lands. Then we woulndt suffer so much run off from these places

We flood regularly around these parts Husky and there's a lot of feeling our rivers and other waterways hereabouts are very poorly maintained and choked with weeds... You can see in my picture, it all looks a bit weedy. The river has not been maintained for several years now.

The powers that be play the 'environment' card when pressed, citing the loss of wildlife habitat. So the happiness of a few fish, ducks and lesser spotted newts are these days put above an awful lot of people having to suffer flooded houses and the concomitant losses...

Taken whilst still dark and illuminated only by my running light.

Its money Jim, ive had relations in the past when alive used to get from the EU so many thousands a year to pay for this type of thing to be taken care of, when i was a young boy i can remember some uncles & much older cousins come late summer early autumn (fall) the same jobs being done, dykes, ditches, brooks all being cleaned out every year, When these subs were stop this work stopped , funny thing is now im older and my family memebers who were farmer and so on have passed away i pass these old places , the dykes and so on look like grass verges now all filled up level as the road because no one bothers, funny thing is farmers did pay into this & a rebate used to come back to them for these works to be done , so whe you think about , why stop ? As for rare spotted creatures , there that rare there all over the place & i dont mean teenagers either lol.

Nice post box cover , we have these all over our way jim , there a nice feature.

Crap photo on the phone but it only lasted a couple of minutes and the phone was doing its usually thing. I wanted the houses in for scale but each time I pressed the shutter button it zoomed in some more without taking a photo.
By the time I had got the Nikon the sun was gone into the mist.
