Re: Picture(s) of the day....
in a little bit of a coincidence The Tan Hill inn was featured on an old repeat episode of Have I got news for you shown only last night.
The BB Clio had a visit there a few years ago

Yes it will be in with a shout for the end of month awards, but there have been a decent crop of contenders so far, and I hope many more to flood in. May even extend the categories to POTD debutants...best newcomer but that will of course require at least one new contributor to the thread.Peter.N. wrote: 12 Mar 2024, 23:28One of our old cats in its favourite place on the Raburn flu pipe.
When I was a newcomer-ish I supplied this photo

Re: Picture(s) of the day
A follow on from the Vulcan Pic...this is well worth reviving from the archives. The FCF class of 2024 are unlikely to have seen this one.

As you can see from the gauges and dials, this was a live start up experience. So here's todays picture of the day.Yes, that right. I won the right to be in the cockpit for the start up procedure and even got to push no.2 throttle from 50% up to full power. How cool is that? You know what they say, more people have climbed Everest than have pushed a Vulcan throttle up to full power.

First ladybird of the year.
Camera found it difficult to focus, this is the best of half a dozen.

That looks like an inverted Ladybird Steve!
Recently, I've returned to baking my own bread by hand, being increasingly dissatisfied with both shop-bought and what my breadmaking machine can produce... It's taken some practice to get it right and today, I managed to produce a very satisfactory loaf
It took five hours from start to end so not quick but very satisfying

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
A tasty looking sample there Jim, maybe it's time to fabricate yourself a loaf tin with 'CITRO' moulded in rather than 'HOVIS' ?

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Only baked one loaf as a trial. Bought the stuff when Covid was on but didn't get around to it until a couple of months ago. Everything well out of date.
Sort-of worked but was very heavy and dense.
Must have another go. Even bought some loaf tins a month ago then completely forgot about them until I installed a new cooker last week.

My bread tin I've had for years and is now very nicely seasoned... One with 'CITRO' embossed into it would be magicmickthemaverick wrote: 13 Mar 2024, 13:32 A tasty looking sample there Jim, maybe it's time to fabricate yourself a loaf tin with 'CITRO' moulded in rather than 'HOVIS' ?![]()

And maybe I could put that loaf on Bluebell's dashboard and then drive up a steep hill with the second movement of Dvorak's 'From the New World' playing on her cassette player

Actually, no, it would have to be a track from a band called Bread playing one of my all-time special favourite tracks

Practice makes perfect Steve, so keep at itmyglaren wrote: Only baked one loaf as a trial. Bought the stuff when Covid was on but didn't get around to it until a couple of months ago. Everything well out of date.
