Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I was very happy to complete the Zog Trail in Salcey Forest today.. Even though I'm about 60 years older than the target demographic and had to run a half marathon in the pouring rain to achieve it
Looking suitably happy...
Because I'd been splashing through lots of terrain like this
Loved it, every wet inch

The random hand has selected its September 2023 image for the sister thread
As it turned out Page number 726 was selected...one near miss was Steve's "A not especially noteworthy weed rake"

More Paggers arboreal festivities
The tree still has plain crowd control barriers around it
They so need a bit of festive wrapping...
The lights look nice though

Nearly done, but if it is some time since you had a yearning like John Masefield, the drama of an October day at Beadnell has been selected by the random hand today.
Have a lookI must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

By twenty-past one-ish, the sky was very nearly the colour of the clock.

Two very nice photos - what time is dawn bobins? Certainly looks wintery with those bare trees.
And Neil - is that really daylight? Wow!

Yes, absolutely - two crackers of photos

Not much of that at the moment Alec, we are now on the cusp of the winter Solstice. Tomorrow sees the shortest day. On the plus-side, after tomorrow the days will again start getting longer

That would have been somewhere around 07.45 - 08.00.Armidillo wrote: 21 Dec 2023, 00:32 Two very nice photos - what time is dawn bobins? Certainly looks wintery with those bare trees.

People normally associate Autumn with the leaves falling off the trees, but the last of the Beech leaves usually fall right about now - as in the week before Xmas.

More pedant... According to the Internet, it happens at 03:27 tomorrow morning...
Kennington Close in good ol' Paggers has one of the premier Christmas lights displays in the MK area...
It looks like Las Vegas in the evenings

Here's a different view of one small part of it in the early morning!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Even more pedantry!!
This is an example of why the English language can be so confusing! If you split a 24 hour period from midnight to midnight into day and night then each period has a day and two nights thus - midnight to dawn , dawn to dusk and dusk to midnight. However we accept that such a period includes one day and one night in which case the shortest day would be correct, but when scheduling with a calendar all days have 24 hours so there is no shortest day.
There would be less confusion if we accepted a 'day' to be the time between consecutive dawns, rather than consecutive midnights, then many popular sayings and songs would make more sense. Eg Night and Day or Day and night!
Of course in reality the shortest day can be in June, it depends what time you wake up!
As this is POTD I thought a P would be useful!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
