Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Back when England won the Women's World Cup playing football, their captain Leah, being born and brought up in Paggers, was immortalised on a mural in the town
In May this year some stupid, brain-dead muppet painted over it... Unbelievable really. We were all up in arms and if ever the culprit had been found I think they'd have been lynched. How anyone can paint over such an icon 'by accident' is beyond comprehension.
Happily, due in part from some town crowdfunding, the mural is now back and better than ever. It was redone on Monday
My photo does not do it justice...

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Spotted this today whilst at work, not sure what it is, apart from it being a car and in really good/mint condition. I think the badge on the front said 'Maxi'

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
That is indeed an Austin Maxi, big brother of the Mini in its time. My mate had one which was a 1750cc HL (High Line). A very comfortable and competent family car of its time. I suspect Gibbo may have a story or two about them?
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
One of my farmer customers had one, loved it, chuck a couple of bales of hay in the back and take it off road to feed the animals, when he wore the first one out asked me to find another.
Anther story about them, my daughter had a boyfriend, I asked him to drive an early Maxi I'd bought back from Norfolk to Brum, when it arrived I asked how he'd got on with the 5th gear, he said "What 5th gear?"

I'd had my Civic for a week before discovering that it had a sixth gear. Actually my son as a passenger looking at the top of the gearstick.

And, on the flip-side, when I owned Daffodil, who has four gears, I used to keep looking for 5th.
I expect Alasdair still does!
