Any photo's I take on my (Android) phone I transfer to my laptop via a USB cable. Can never get BlueTooth to work.
Only takes seconds and the images can then be manipulated with Image Viewer or The Gimp.

Note that many pictures taken on mobile phones will 'fall over' or be displayed upside down when uploaded to the forum and need to be corrected in advance.
This doesn't seem to apply to digital cameras, and not all phones.

It should be possible to have your photo's uploaded to a Google account and you should be able to upload to the forum direct from there.

I don't use this option as the account my phone has linked itself to is crammed to the gills and in danger of shutting down if any more images were to be uploaded there.
I should switch it to one of my other Google accounts, and may even do that one day.

I use Signal instead of Whats App and that has a 'Note to self' feature. It runs on both phone and laptop so any images I want to transfer quickly I just put them on the 'Note to Self' on the phone and then access them from the laptop. Automatically xferred!! Shimples :-D

If participation is to be encouraged, and most people take pics with their mobile devices that should be easy to do and obvious from the normal posting screen.

Anyway its one for the folk who know more about it than me and I interpret Vic's point that there are ways round it but not everyone can be bothered, and if it is possible the forum should make it as easy to upload a pic from a mobile, as it is from a laptop.

Another laptop upload success, Haven't loaded a single pic from a mobile seeing as I haven't got one. For those who have a mobile does the upload from mobile little button not work :?:

I couldn't see your "Upload From Phone" button Neil (where is it?) but uploaded the image above directly from my phone using the normal method and it was easy.

As you can see, when zoomed it 'falls over' and there doesn't appear to be an option to manipulate this directly on the horrible phone.

Have never been on this or any other forum on my phone before, far too fiddly and needs a different pair of glasses to those I carry with me so not anything I could do while out and about.

It appears every time if you click attachments then click on add files on the normal posting screen.

A "Scan the QR code with your mobile device to pair" comes up when you select the upload from mobile button.

I tried changing to W11 but couldn't find out how to do the things that 10 did without a lot of time and experimenting and then I forgot how to do it so I changed back to 10 again. This is on a desk top, don't get on with anything with a touch screen.

I agree, touch screens are an abomination.

I have been experimenting, the first picture was taken with the phone in portrait position, and the second with the phone in landscape. You can see that pictures rotate if taken in portrait mode but not in landscape so my advice is to use the phone in landscape position when taking pics for the forum which will eliminate the rotating on zoom problem :-D

As Gibbo recently noted, pictures taken in landscape on my phone end up upside down if not corrected in advance (Motorola G30).

Won't be using Edge, Neil. A Microsoft product not available to me.

Interesting Steve, If you hold the landscape position the other way up what happens then? I always use Landscape with the bottom of my phone to the right and they come out the right way up? :)

Then I get close-up blurred pictures of my fingers :(

Regarding an earlier question, I just had a look in my Google Photo's and see that there is a manipulation program built in there that can rotate, enhance, change aspect ratio and other stuff. Doesn't appear to be an option to reduce the pixel count though.

Odd that this is the only photo in there, one by my daughter of a cake that she baked for her own birthday on 1st April 2022. Deliberately messy, she has a business baking vegan cakes and they are works of art for the most part.
Nearly her birthday again and my eldest's today.
