Ive driven many a xantia.. And there was nothing better other then an XM..

Many might know i was a real c5 mk.1 hater.. There was lots always going wrong on one a friend had.. However we took the plunge and bought a 51 plate 2.0 hdi 8v auto for 300 quid and that was it.

Yes its a different feel.. But the brakes were just as good.. It rode just as well.. And wait till you need to work on them. Pipework is far simpler.. You can change the two rear strut feed pipes and splitter without needing to remove anything. You have a simmiler suspension setup but with far fewer pipes on them. As mentioned above no stupid linkage between the anti roll bar and level sensor. Of course theres no height corrector on them eliminating more pipes but so far ive only heard of pump failiures and not any height sensor failiures.. That must say something.

To me. The c5 is a step forward and a good one. We have just bought another 55 plate mk.2 hdi for 350 quid.. So for me.. The c5 is a big thumbs up

If it has to be xantia then Series 2 hdi... Or only an L reg mk.1

I do recall that somebody here on the forum did have a problem with the rear height corrector on a C5;
