Cheers Peter I have looked at the 406 7 seater's a while back, not sure if the 3rd seat passengers can get out from rear doors or have they to exit via boot. Can't remember if one or both or if any 2nd row side seat slides forward. Will look into it.

Very nice, checked on Mytimingbelt.com and it doesn't seem to have an interval for mileage just months, is it chain cam? I've noticed on nearly all the 7 seater's I've looked at only 2 out of probably 50 had reverse sensors, you'd think they would be standard on such a vehicle.
Just got text from brother were apparently going to see 5-7 zafira's in morning. I guess I'm gonna be driving then

With that I'd at least get a parking space outside school, parents would drive off thinking it's Mick Taylor.

Richard_C wrote:You could spend a lot less on a Synergie (806, Fiat Useless or Lancia ?Dedra?, Evasion in France). Most were 7 seaters, but some, mostly Peugeots, had a 3 seat bench rear so took 8. The earlier 1.9TDs are pretty bomb proof as far as I can tell and servicing is a breeze. I had the cam belt done second time around at 140k miles on mine and it feels like it will last another 70k without too much trouble. Its not the main car any more, but yesterday we loaded my daughters bike down one side of the 'van, my daughter and what seemed like a ton of 'stuff' for university, 450 mile round trip, mostly at 70 -75 mph, no worries.

For £2.5k you could buy three :-)

When the new C8 had been about for a while, I thought about changing but the service manager at a local specialist suggested labour times for big jobs on the C8 are more than the Synergie because of harder access. The early ones with electric doors got a bad press for door gremlins.

I wonder, I think the C Crosser is 7 seat, (aka Mitsubishi Outlander with a 2.2 Citroen diesel engine). They were pretty unpopular so a cheapie might turn up but last time I looked they were £5k plus. Sounds like a grumpier than usual citroen to me, odd name.

Some old Grand Picassos are coming up below £3k but might be liabilites, and what about Berlingos with 'family pack' 7 seats - not many around, wonder about prices.
Just seen this http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... &logcode=p" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; wish I was closer it's a bargain but I think my brother would throttle me. Do the rear doors slide open? No rust problems with the synergie, what's the common faults with these? Auto any good?

Cheers

Still looking, few of the cars I've seen were ok apart from the dual mass/clutch and two sellers wouldn't shift on price. Need to pop down to Yorkshire and see a few, there was a synergie advertised on gumtree in Walton-le-dale but seller hasn't replied to my email that was a w reg synergie 1.9 xud engine for £600 iirc.

I was offered £200 trade in for mine - 1998 1.9TD SX with 'dateless' number plate and pretty good condition, so I kept it for now.

If you are still interested in a Synergie, the original Citroen France adverts are on you tube. 2 in same clip. The first one is really annoying, the second only marginally annoying and if you watch carefully you will see just how versatile the seating is.

The seats are heavy to take in and out, and you have to put them somewhere when out, but compared to the more modern 'fold into floor' types you get a lot more space left over. If you look at the boot floor of a new Grand Picasso and an un-grand one you will see what I mean. Even with the super thin modern folding seats you lose several inches of height.

Last weekend I helped a relative who had moved in to a house where nothing worked. We went to the local tip with a 90 cm high fridge & similar sized freezer both standing upright, a dishwasher, microwave, old sink & taps several fluorescent tubes and fittings, seven big boxes of detritus, 3 bags of garden rubbish and a large rusty petrol lawnmower we found half buried behind the shed. For its size its remarkably efficient.

I've had an 807 and a Grand Scenic.

The 807 was a 2.0 HDi and the fuel consumption was horrendous, 24mpg average and on days where it was just run around town even less, best I ever got on a good run with a very light foot was 31. Yes the seating is versatile but to get the most out of the space means lugging them in and out (and they are very heavy). If you want boot space you have to leave one or more seats behind in which case you just have a big estate. On the plus side you can get 7 adults in comfortably you just need a roofbox or trailer for the luggage.

Overall the Scenic was the better package. We had the 150bhp 2.0 Diesel, great performance, great fuel consumption (35 average). Plenty of boot space with the seats down and no need to compromise by leaving seats behind. On the downside the back 2 seats are for kids only and small kids at that.

Friend of mine has a black zafira that he was hoping to repair (salvage) that he bought but he was banned few days later for DD, so we've settled on price now he just needs to repair the back end. Its a 59 plate black zafira auto cdti 96k.
Thanking everyone for their advice..
