Either that, or VW got them right but the sales team couldn't match them up to suitable owners!

My £180 in 1979 bought one of these, the very definition of a bog standard commuter bike albeit with a nice chrome sided tank tank, and zero sporting pretensions. This one looks good but not a great attention-to-detail video, a non-starter with a speculated reason no petrol...come on Mathewsons just put a touch of petrol in and start the thing up before you do the video.

Using an inflation calculator my £180 in 1979 is equivalent to £636.72 now. The bike is expected to fetch £2000-£3000. Granted no doubt the owner has spent plenty on a refurb, but that's whole car money for the unloved MGF, or indeed the money expected for an Alfa Romeo GTV T-spark at ACA in their June sale.

This Est £2,000-£3,000

Or This Est £2,000 to £2,500

Bentley 4,566 cc DVLA has it at 1954 which seems unlikely late 20's early 30's I would have thought.

Maybe not. Discovered that Bentley did this in 1954, Produced a R-type Sports Special 4.6. although our Bentley spot appears to have a boat-tail.

The CD175 is a true classic now and possibly one of the biggest nails to be hammered into the coffin of the British motorbike industry...

I always fancied a Hornet or an Elf.. Still do, especially in that shade of blue...

This rocked up at the bike race meet at the MK Bowl last evening where, amongst other jobs, I was the car park marshal...

Not vintage or old but this was rather nice too. It sounded especially nice :)

That one was not racing; the racing being for a different sort of bike entirely...

I spotted a purple soft-top Morris Minor on the M27 near Fareham this morning.

It's all in the eye of the beholder...

Many say an AX can never be, nor an Allegro or a Marina for instance but they all have very devoted and faithful followings in our very broad church...

I once dated a girl that had a Nova saloon... I drove it a few times... I only recall it to have been rather bland in every way possible... Having said that, it did what a small, cheap car is designed to do reasonably adequately...

I run a more modern version of such a car - my Nissan Pixo... Never will it be a classic and is as bland as a loaf of white bread but it does a reasonable small-car job.

Who knows, one day it might have a dedicated following and appear in a feature on early 2000s 'shopping trolleys' in the March 2045 issue of Practical Classics....
