It was the MG 1300 version the MarkII. Nice coffee-table read from AROnline here
https://www.aronline.co.uk/our-cars/mg-1100-1300-mkii/
Some virtues of the Mk1 appeal to the author :-D
On the other hand, if you like dipping your headlights with a foot-operated switch, and you love the sound of the toggle switches clicking satisfyingly into position and that little green tell-tale on the end of the indicator stalk is your thing, then the earlier cars are the ones to go for.

Yes I like that, plenty of chrome, pleasing lines, and the MG logo is a simple marvel of design.

Lately I seem drawn to photograph these, not that stunning a colour with this example, but I did like the building behind it.

On Antiques Roadtrip rather than in real life, but a couple of interesting vehicles.

As far as shapes of cars goes that Alfa is one of my favourites, and the Minor is one of those special edition Minor 1,000,000's.

I have to agree with you there Neil about the shape of the Alfa. Personally one of my all time favourite shapes was the XJ6 Coupe which is basically the same shape as the Alfa, just slightly elongated: :-D

The final Auction is in St Albans!, but they kicked of at Steyning in West Sussex.

The Alfa is a Alfa Romeo GTV 1971, 1750cc. Well out of bargain basement price range now.

er not quite St Albans.....the auction was in Bolton (Lancs) but the contestants assembled at the De Haviland Museum which I presume is somewhere near St Albans to watch their purchases go under the hammer in the On-line Auction from Bolton!
Auction was run online by Bolton Auction Rooms<br /> Limited

Many, many years ago, I remember that at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a stock Cavalier beat Paddy Hopkirk's works escort, both on speed and handling. It just showed how far engine design and chassis and suspension improvement had come in the intervening years. Sorry, don't remember the year - which of course would make it much more interesting

One of my customers had a Sunbeam Tiger, frightening to drive and ate starter motors annually. :)
