Now Jim if all your classic spot pics were as clear as that with the number plate crystal clear, it would relieve a bit of head scratching in Northumberland.
That's taken on the camera mounted on my TCR, it does a far better job than the little one on my Propel...

Not only that, it will record for over six hours as apposed to the 90 minutes of the little one...

Now the TCR is back in regular use again, most of my spotted pictures will be taken with it ;)

Always happy to help those in Northumberland :D

For all our sakes Jim you'd better keep them clearer, we don't want Neil getting splinters in his fingers and not being able to type!! :-D

Considering that the reason for its trip home may have been for some restoration work I think the current owner made a good choice!! :) =D>

Car of the day. A White 1956 Lancia Appia appeared as a 3-Star IMCDB performer on the Saint "Simon and Delilah" this morning. Quite liked the look of it, looks a bit like a Rover P4 from the side, but nice front end.
Image
Came across its lengthier stablemate the Lancia Aurelia and its appearance in "The Adventures of Tintin" film and in the book The Calculus Affair (L'Affaire Tournesol)

The chapter and verse on TinTin cars is this

No trouble identifying that one Jim. Originaly registered in Anglesey (EY), first reg January 1963 according to the DVLA. 1098cc. With that engine it would be a Series V according to the Potteries Morris Minor owners club
http://potteries.mmoc.org.uk/Identify.htm

These lights apparently which our Traveller has were supposedly fitted from October 1963. So maybe a touch of non-originality there :-D

Image

The Colour is Smoke Grey, with blue-grey trim, blue carpets and old English white grill and wheels.

Excellent! I purposely stopped to take some decent pictures of it...

Genuine 1963 A-registered vehicles were always rare as many local authorities did not immediately start using the suffix system. Especially if they still had stocks of the old-style registrations available... It was not until (I believe) 1964 that universal use of the suffix came about with B-registrations...

I discovered via Facebook the Moggie is called Margaret and is a rolling restoration... The wood needs attention quite badly... Otherwise very sound and in good condition... I just hope the owner knows the wood is structural...

She belongs to a friend of a friend of mine it turns out :D

I had one of those same colour sitting in my yard for quite a long time intending one day to fix it up.

A customer, a young hippy vegan type girl kept pestering me to do it up for her so I set about making it look as sparkling new, she and her husband came to collect it and noticed there was a hole on the floor where a rubber grommet had fallen out, (I was waiting for it from the dealer)

"Can you fix that because we wouldn't want our goats to fall out?"
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

A very tidy pick-up in a nice shade of yellow... The colour suits it well :D

It was working for its living too...

On a J-plate it would have been one of the very last...

November 1970 reg, there were some K reg but that was it. Interesting under the bonnet of that because of the "date" the litte green rocker covered engine is most likely to have Austin on it. Indeed is it right that the "Minor" van/pickup was known as the Austin 8 cwt Van.

Havent the chapter and verse but the last "minor" vans and presumably pick ups may well have ditched the "morris" name.

This is from a K-Reg Van

From the sales particulars for this
Image

With Austin and Morris both being part of BMC, the Minor-based Morris commercials were also marketed as the Austin 6cwt and Austin 8cwt with a closed van and open pick-up versions. They were designed for commercial use with small businesses in mind, although many made their way to larger corporations. The van version was popular with the Post Office, with both the van and the pick-up differing from the monocoque construction of the Saloon and Traveller variant by having a separate chassis. They also differed in details such as telescopic rear dampers, stiffer rear leaf springs and lower ratio differentials to cope with the heavier loads.
