Real head turner of a classic spot today. Appropriately at STanhope Station.

A classic American Station Wagon.

Yellow with a white roof and lots of chrome. I will elevate it to POTD when I return to my normal machinery.

A Chevrolet Bel air no less. Absolutely gorgeous. Now on POTD and here as well

What do you know about this?

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

This could be a whatsthisthen but I for one had never heard of it, and its German.

Can anyone contribute any knowledge on it.
For me...totally the wrong colour, but I do suspect it is an unloved rarity, and it looks very much that no-one is bothering to restore it, and its growing cobwebs. It isn't the quattro coupe shape, but posssibly its quite a rarity.

This is it Audi 90 Quattro 2309cc 20v (yes its got 5 cylinders) June 1990 reg on SORN and last MOT expired 21st Sept 2017.

Thanks for the link Mick I will have a look at that I just wonder how much it would fetch at a classic auction in its current state should there be any interest in its rarity value, and how tempted the current owner might be with with an offer at a low enough price to make a transaction worthwhile.

I saw a Renault R8 Gordini on the road yesterday. Not this actual car, but similar paint job. There are actually a few in this region that come out for car shows.

That would be a nice one to drive but still not for me to own!! They are like most German cars and too firm a ride for my liking. Would have loved it 40 years ago when I was rallying :-D
Re the 90, from the pics it does look pretty run down and in good condition I should think it might be around the 3-3.5k mark but I wouldn't give more than 350 in the current condition. Then expect to put 1500 into it to make it profitable!! And that's all supposition based on a biased old git's appraisal (ie mine :-D ) I'd leave well alone! :)

Is it my eyes or does that car look like the tyres are just too high a profile? It almost looks like a dinky toy car with truck tyres on it! :-D

Nice colour. I am usually ambivalent about car colours.
Had a neighbour in a flat we used to live in. Parking out the back. On the ground floor was a bakery.
He parked his R8 Gordini next to the bakery, batter splattered through the open window onto the car and artistically removed the paint in reverse Jackson Pollock style.
He also had a Traction Avant.

I was more impressed by the old 0range 811 outside the garage that was also on the ground floor. Young and impressionable.

Neil's American station wagon two tone is exactly the colours I used to paint the early F model Vauxhall Victors...…….with Tekaloid and a brush.

The series of random events which led me to that photo of the yellow Lotus culminated in the key decision whether to get petrol at Morrisons or ASDA on my way back. Morrisons won, and I drove past the car again, and with one U-Turn and a stop on yellow lines, the deed was done.

Amazing how some things come about! However I feel you may have disregarded my photo to the point of not telling me what it is?  :-D
