With it being unlikely that the Avanti will appear in this thread as an "on the road" spot in the forseeable, this is its 5 minutes of fame (or noitoriety) on the FCF.

So....in another category of the possibly irritating I present a four minute twenty two seconds "mini documentary" of the Avanti voiced over by one of our American friends. Go on give it a watch with an open mind....

The designer was of course FRENCH Raymond Loewy

That explains it!

That according to Autotrader Vehicle Check is a 1948 Buick. Buick Eight on the grill.

This is what Classiccarcatalogue has on them

It was, unusually, right hand drive. I have a second photograph, but I cannot get it to upload.

Actually, do you recall some others having upload problems?
Try converting it to a .png and it should work.

Try simply renaming the image in whatever image viewing software you use. I cannot upload photos taken from my phone, but if I simply rename them (in Irfanview image viewing software) then they upload fine.

Top one is a Rapier Jim, because it says so for one thing, but also the Alpine Fastback which it could have conceivably been, didn't have the vinyl trim on the "C" pillar, and in general was less flashy but the same shape.
