Yes when the passenger side fit tent is used the sliding tray is sacrificed, but the cables are usually located there and tucked away like the one you found in the rear of the head unit.

That'll be for the optional early satnav, won't it? IIRC that drive holds a CD (DVD?) containing the maps. It's nothing to do with the audio system.Hell Razor5543 wrote: 11 Jul 2018, 22:32I saw (on a Mk1 2002 C5 Exclusive at a scrap yard) the CD multichanger was fitted in the driver side glove box.

Correct, it was for one of the early Dayton VDO systems and held the mapping DVD unit.

Mine has the connections for the CD changer under the driver's seat...……..but no changer, it may have been removed before I acquired the car, the connectors are sticking out in full view.

Re: MikeT's C5r 1.6 hdi Estate
I pulled the centre panel trim off looking for a convenient place to drill and mount my Aux-in socket. In doing so, I noticed a small loose piece of plastic drop down into the gear shift area and on retrieval found it was the missing piece needed to latch my ashtray. I've refitted it and the ashtray - it now stays closed. Yay!!!

Re: MikeT's C5r 1.6 hdi Estate
I know it sounds trivial, but it really annoyed me having a gaping hole where the ashtray is and it's worth noting, buying a replacement ashtray wouldn't have solved the problem as the part that was missing is fitted to and from behind the centre facia panel.
Anyway, facia trim (with new Aux-in socket), climate control panel, radio and ashtray all refitted so took another gander under the seat and sure enough - again covered in sticky-backed foam - is the harness and blue connector for a CD changer in a fixed mounting tray.
So question is, are there any aftermarket devices that will plug n play there?

The CD Changers for the C5 are very specific and must be CAN compatible. There were 2 types available one worked the other didn't so you need to get hold of this Clarion one:
Part 6564 E1, RP 6564 QK or 9647427980 which are compatible with your car until RPO 10919 (your car is 10168)
Here you go:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-CITR ... Swlv9aYw9-
This one has the cassette mechanism too, so make sure you get one with that!
I'm researching a DAB solution for my car as the OEM aftermarket system is not compatible with my NG4 telematics system - but I may have found a solution for £30! I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: MikeT's C5r 1.6 hdi Estate
Was hoping there'd be something aftermarket with greater capacity and options etc. I guess the limitations are with the head unit itself.
Still, having re-enabled aux-in, I have more choice now.

Re: MikeT's C5r 1.6 hdi Estate
Yes it's a limitation without Bluetooth and USB. Although I have those, many units (even today) are still lacking a DAB option, so I'm considering an FM DAB transmitter that comes with DAB aerial. The unit plugs into the ciggy lighter; - FM frequency is selectable from a good range, then you just tune the radio to the FM frequency and store it - job done. DAB channels are selected via turning the ring on the unit and the display of the DAB station is shown on the OLED display of the unit and also on the Head Unit. I'm thinking at sub £30, with good reviews I can't go wrong and it will compliment the radio with a whole new range of quality channels.
There's only so much listening to corny Welsh DJs that I can cope with I'm afraid!
This guy has answered his own question - he has a wire-heated front windscreen defrosting system so that is well-known to cause interference with signal reception. Getting a good contact with the car bodywork will greatly improve the reception and one chap was picking up DAB channels across half the Country.

Looks worth a punt if you're hankering after DAB.
With my aux-in, connected to android, I'm not likely to run out entertainment any time soon. Even watched an HD video while lunching
It has BlueTooth and USB, and wifi, and 4G and... more ands
Now musing over the idea of hacking some space for a nice large screen tablet.

I love the idea it integrates with the car's systems but even after seeing a neat install of the above, the screen just looks wrong.
My android sat nav and other apps have a heads-up display that's pretty neat so maybe a compact projector is the way forward
