Thanks for the opinions everyone and sorry for not getting back sooner!

I'll be after buying one end of July / August so i'll keep an eye out for one with exceptional service history and take into account all things said here ^

If I don't feel my £1500 budget would get me a good example I might just find a really good example 406 estate providing insurance makes sense.

In case anybody is wondering why insurance is such an issue for me, i'm 24 and only about to finally pass my test after 3 cars and 2 years no claims (Nissna Micra, Fiat 126p and aCitroen Xantia which is now under the trusty hands of Elma).

For some bizzare reason anything with an engine bigger than 2.0 doubles / tripples the cost (any logic in the quote below?)

Peugeot 206 1.1 - £800
Ford Focus estate 1.8 (I think) - £970
Peugoet 307 - £1080
Peugeot 407 1.6 - £1130
Peugeot 407 2.0 - £1320
Citroen Xantia 2.1 - £3440!!!!!!!

I'll keep everyone updated with what I go with and might seek a little more advice if you all don't mind

Personally I wish I just had my Fiat 126 again... :-D
