You really need to post up the VIN for a proper check on Service Citroen / CitDocBackup to make sure it's the right condensor as there were a few variants. As for the O rings - you can get a kit of rings from eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/205pc-HNBR-O- ... 3ccf8867bc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but as you only need 4 (2 + 2) to do the pipes on the condensor it may be best to get them from a dealer, then you'll know they're the right ones and not a 'near enough' fit.... or possibly not ! If you're going to disconnect the pipes on the compressor then you'll need more O rings.osx wrote:Will this one do the job?

On this, I really would not blame the Car or the designers (other than difficult access) The car needs to be cleaned in that area that is all.....however difficult that is.
I cleaned mine of all the flies (they make acid when they decompose, that then rots the alloy) leaves and some mud........it IS an area hard to reach, I made a 30mm copper micro-bore tube/adapter/on my hose with a small nozzle from a air jet to reach down and washed it clean, loads of crud came out. I also use it for the hanging baskets now

DocBackup lists both 6455GY and 6455HV as fitting, but I'd reckon yours is likely the 6455GY. You'd best check the dimensions - dimensions are listed on these web pages, though I've no idea if they're reliable or accurate sources !

http://www.michelecaroli.com/autoparts_ ... em=6455.HV" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As for the O rings - 4 needed for the compressor to condensor pipe - 6460V0 (2 at each end, assuming you're going to disturb the pipe at both ends), and 2 O rings 6460T9 for the pipe from the condensor to inside the car.

It is the GY one indeed. Now need to plan how to replace it. Don't have to disconnect the radiator but just tilt it backwards so I can slide the condenser out?bobins wrote:DocBackup lists both 6455GY and 6455HV as fitting, but I'd reckon yours is likely the 6455GY. Re: Removing condenser from C5 X7 and disable automatic lock
When I did mine I just unmounted the rad to move it out of the way - I didn't need to drain the cooling system or take the rad out of the engine bay. It is a little bit of a fiddle and you will end up drawing blood from your knuckles, but basically it's straight forward as to what gets moved and how it all comes apart. As I said previously, don't be afraid to slacken and move other bits out of the way to make life easier.osx wrote:It is the GY one indeed. Now need to plan how to replace it. BTW, my Main Stealer quoted me over £670 to replace the condensor and regas the system - I actually laughed at the service bod when he told me - so if you manage to do it yourself, I think you can treat yourself to a small congratulatory drink

Re: Removing condenser from C5 X7 and disable automatic lock
This is where I am now
I can see the condenser connected at two points at the same side - one higher up (label attached) and one lower down which I can only get access from underneath the car. Is there anything else I need to remove?

Looking at the cross referencing charts, it would indeed seem that they are all the same condensor, however.... depends if you want to risk itosx wrote:Will the 6455CP or 6455FX fit?

From memory, that's all there was holding the condensor in.osx wrote:I can see the condenser connected at two points at the same side - one higher up (label attached) and one lower down which I can only get access from underneath the car. Is there anything else I need to remove?
However - mine is on metal suspension so doesn't have any associated suspension pipework / spheres / pump in the engine bay getting in the way so you need to satisfy yourself that they're not going to foul anything. It may pay to remove one or both of the pipes connected to the compressor to give you a bit more room.

Re: Removing condenser from C5 X7 and disable automatic lock
I'd stop buggering about and just remove the radiator - I spent ages undoing the bolts and pipes on the DPF on my C4 Picasso to get it out, with the rad in place, only to find the there wasn't enough room to get the heatshield off anyway. Removing the rad took all of 5 minutes and made the job of putting it back in comparatively easy. Took the rad out first on the 307 when I did the turbo filter, and then the condenser a few weeks later. Gets a bit expensive on antifreeze mind you!
You should find the that stud will act as a puller to get the pipe off, but the bottom one might be a bit of a trial - on mine with was firmly welded together. I tried undoing the stud but that just wrecked the fitting on the end. Give the fitting a good wiggling to start with, and only when it looks like it has freed off the stud, try unwinding the stud to pull it out.

Re: Removing condenser from C5 X7 and disable automatic lock
Was thinking about getting the rad out as it would make things much easier but couldn't think of a way to disconnect the lower tube without making a mess and having to refill with antifreeze. If I disconnect the condenser I am sure I will be able to slide it out without removing the rad.

Re: Removing condenser from C5 X7 and disable automatic lock
To do a proper drain, remove radiator, refit radiator, refill with coolant, Citroen reckon just over an hour and 10 minutes. To do it properly - refilling the whole system with fresh coolant - you'd need to remove the engine undertray and various bits of metalwork to get at the engine block drain point on the back of the engine. I'm sure you wouldn't be the first person to sidestep this part of the process though It should go without saying that you shouldn't just let the antifreeze drain onto the ground...... as I'm sure no one on this forum does that.........
