I met Citroenmad Chris tortoise, which I believe is in it's 70s or 80s. It runs across the garden and attacks jeans. Hilarious.

Hell yeah, between me, the dog and a naughty parrot we'd have a right laugh.

I have a good relationship with a blackbird in the garden and used to keep chickens, really like birds. I'd love a flock of geese too but I'm far to mobile for pets that can't come with.

It's surprising how fast they do go. Ours got out once and was found in a grocery shop just down the road trying to get into the veg shelf [emoji1]

I must say, the number of people who stand with their jaw open when you tell them your "pet" will out last you/them by quite a few years is a funny thing, getting your head around the fact it may have a better life expectancy is quite a thought :)

noted on another thread,
the way that a thread topic "meanders" in this case from Rp numbers to lifespans......Hmm!

Verrrry interesting!!

One of my oldest friends Ron had a parrot ever since I first met him in the 60's and we looked after it (him) many times when Ron went to Spain for extended periods about 15 years ago prior to moving there. One night he came in from the pub to find the cat sitting on the dog's back and the parrot sitting on the cat's head!
He left the parrot in Spain to live with the local vet, in the waiting room as it was a bit of a handful, insisting on sharing meals and demanding toast every morning, it was in it's element with all the attention.
Sadly, Ron, after returning to the UK, passed away last year, Chippy the parrot is still going strong in Spain though.
