I will have a look, I have to do the handbrake adjustment anyway so I will be there or about. I have to "do" the speedo so will have the steering covers/instruments off as well next week....anything behind there on the loom

Will look at the peddle switch in the morning but being an auto I think it may just be wrong for an S1 Manual....it really is a nice to do if easy, no time for anything more complicated.

I was beginning to think that way David, it seems a lot of dash/wires/control/pumps to bother about it for limited miles.
It's a nice mod on something like the Berlingo where you plod along for hours at 65mph day after day, but on that it's easy - plug and play almost. I'd imagine it's not worth the bother as David says for something that you'll not use that often, and when you do use it, putting it on cruise will be the last thing you want to do!

The first place to look for the wiring is the connector of the brake pedal switch, if it has 3 wires on the car side, then the car probably has cruise wiring, if it has 3 wires on the switch side, then the correct switch is already fitted.

The connector for the stalk is grey or brown and has 5 or 6 wires under the lower steering shroud, but you need to remove the steering wheel to get there...

It can, but removing the wheel is no drama so you might as well not ruin the shrouds!

I looked for the clutch switch on my HDi before I scrapped it, as I sent the ECU to Paul so he could put cruise on his HDi. The clutch switch was fitted on mine, but it is inaccessible to all intents and purposes - I can only think that it would be necessary to remove the dash to get at it....

I am not sure, I never needed to access one. Maybe under the passenger seat in a Mk1, somewhere else I think on a Mk2. Jim knows...
On a Series 2 its in an easy to get at location - inside the centre console right at the back. Simply prise out the rear window winder button assembly and it's right there, you can reach in and disconnect the connector which is of the sliding latch type.

In a Series 1 its much hard to get at. It's underneath the carpet under the front of the drivers (RH) seat in the corner between the outside pillar and cross brace. To get at it you'll have to remove the drivers seat and lift up the carpet where the front and rear carpets overlap.

On a S1 Xantia the cruise control relay is located in the right front wing together with the headlamp wash relay within a large triangular box just above/behind the wheel, well where else would you expect it to be? Have a look there and you will discover whether any loom has been provided for cruise.

Amusingly, I have the correct S1 dash switch sitting unused on a shelf.

It's also located in the wheel arch of early S2 V6's as well, apparently.

After a lot of time looking for the relay in the correct S2 location (drivers foot well from memory) in my old S2 V6 and not finding it, it turned out to be in the S1 location in the wheel arch...

bugger all that....I will collect the parts for fitting "at a later date"

better things to do first than work out a way of doing nothing :)
