Re: Coolant loss through filler cap

Post by MuttonChops »

Hi folks

On Sunday I removed the thermostat and back flushed the cooling system.

I then flushed the system with Holts Speedflush, followed by another back flush.

I've refilled with just cold water and over the last couple of days the water hasn't gone down, so I'm hoping this has resolved the issue.

This weekend I think I'll flush it again because I reckon the radiator could still have a lot of calcium deposits in it, then I'll fill up with antifreeze mix.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions.

Moral of the story: change coolant regularly.

Moral of the story:........... don't use tap water
(take it from one who looks at household radiators a lot! that stuff can get really thick quickly....I would worry about a old car purchased in Bath !)

fingers crossed

I'm going to use pre-mixed antifreeze.
