Might be a good idea to get a Lexia/Diagbox hooked up to it. at least that way you can run a couple of tests........ personally I think the disc being stuck in the head unit is the problem.....

Yes it does go into economy mode very soon after switch off, i'd say about 5-7 mins. also as soon as i unlock the car in the morning 'ecomony mode active' displays in the dashboard even before i open the driver door.

And as for the radio/cd unit it seems to be working ok now since yesterday, it did not have any cd inside it as i use the hard disk for music. so still dont know what caused it.
As for the poor battery, i had a full service done last year at 55k shouldn't they check the batteries at that time?

Batteries fail over time. What might have been good 6 months ago may no longer have sufficient capacity for the job. Simply put, the battery has got old and tired!

I'm not sure that a full service would normally include what is known as a "load test". The battery check would be more like "Yep, it's still there".

This is the only way to establish the actual health of a battery, and a reputable battery shop will likely have no problem telling you if it's not ready for replacement. It's madness to play guessing games when the state of such a pivotal item is unknown.

Thanks for your response guys. I'm still getting the car on limp mode with all codes flashing when i stop the car and start it again within an hour or two. Its ok if i start it after two or three hours. Yesterday it conked out twice, once in the middle of a junction and once when i started it.
I struck between the faulty fusebox and bad battery. Although the check button does not give any fault readings.
But as you guys have pointed out, i guess the battery needs changed anyways. But can a bad battery make the car cut out in the middle of a run?

Once again, the CHECK button won't give you any useful feedback, it will show the service interval, maybe the ECO parameters and deflated tires (the messages that would usually only appear on the instrument panel matrix display, nothing more that that ...)

hey guys, alas the car gave up the ghost over the weekend , it would start and within few meteres of rolling all errors mssgs popped up along with limp mode. left the car untouched for three days and this morning started ok and took it to garage without any mssgs flashing.

Now the garage has run diagnostics and they say its a CAM sensor failure and quoting 103 quid for new part with fitting and another 60 for diagnostics.

Should i go with what they say?

thanks.
