I just checked, and zel should have an avatar, but the external server where he hosted it is down. http://loz.zelandeth.org/misc/avatar_zel_2014-100.jpg

Yeah, my router crashed a couple of days ago, I've not yet got the DNS redirection sorted. Really should just stuff it on my ImgBB account...

This may be of interest Zel. Spotted it last on the alphabetic list by make at Brightwells Auction today...

1987 ZAZ SMZ Invalidka

Remains unsold after the auction. Not sure if that was because no-one was prepared to take it on or it actually had a reserve which was not met! Bobins is right went for £550 sale just today and they have updated since I first looked.

What on earth...?

Interesting...that I will definitely give it, and yes...given infinite garage space for random toys, yeah... I'd definitely be willing to give that a home, definitely reckon it would get a fair bit of attention at shows...

Bit surprised it didn't find a buyer given that stuff from that corner of the world seems to have got quite a following these days...

According to the Brightwell's website it did actually sell for £550, so it looks like you missed out on this one, Zel, and you'll just have to wait for the next ZAZ Invalidka to come along so you can add it to your collection

Does show that the Invacar - at least by the time the Model 70 came along - was actually quite sophisticated compared to some of the competition.

Really am getting impatient and excited to get that on the road now. Not sure why so much in the last few days, but the grin the ridiculous little thing has put on my face seeing it in the garage has got bigger again.

Guessing nearly having working brakes and having it starting reliably first touch has helped.

Did you know they have a Type 70 Invacar in the Museum of Transport in Glasgow? No, I didn't either.

Free entry (with a very reasonable 'Suggested Donation' and sensibly priced parking directly outside too)

Particularly good for Bus and Tram enthusiasts, less so for cars; many of which are way up in the air (Type 70 is an exception).

Glad to hear that the rattles are now reduced and empathise with what was probably a good while's searching for appropriate sized new fixings. So quick to write about their being fixed, surprisingly time consuming.

That's a shiny one!

Pretty sure the Model 70 wouldn't have ever left the factory with black and silver plated though would they?

I still reckon the belief they'll call over if you turn a corner sharply is I'll founded...yes they'll wobble around, but the centre of gravity is a heck of a lot lower than any of the Reliants of the period...plus the driver is in the middle which should also help. Well, I'll find out I guess given all our roundabouts...

Have driven past that museum, never been in it though.

not aware of the regs on erm... reg's, but seems you are; never owned anything of that vintage. I know the black & silver looks nicer tho ! :-D

You really should go in next time you go by. Nice site. Don't do what I did and completely fail to find the upstairs..... [who knows! ]

...not as bad as our somewhat out-dated but not that old Sat-Nav though, the M8 appeared to be completely absent from its maps. However, Googlemaps on SWMBO's phone got the best out of Glasgow's road system and we left feeling that it can really work.

Wishing hubby a speedy recovery by the way, and good fortune with our NHS. Do be ensuring you lavish plenty of time on him and not too much on the vehicles.

Black and silver plates were (and are) legal for for fitment to cars manufactured before January 1 1973. My E-type left the factory on December 29 1972, so just snuck in (interestingly, that car started its trip down the production line in September 1972, so was not a rush job).

So that early one being on a K plate might have just caught the tail end of the old style plates...

My two both being later would have been on the white/yellow plates from new. Thankfully still actually have them rather than having to faff around trying to find proper looking replacements.

Hah, NHS...we actually got the referral appointment letter from the Neurology team yesterday. 8th January 2019. That's nice and prompt isn't it...

Had a closer look at the fuel tank on the Invacar.

Now I've always thought that it looked like a glorified Jerry can. Quite *how* blatantly it is just a glorified Jerry can I never realised until I stood the pair next to each other.

If my attempts to get anyone to make a new one continue to prove fruitless I can see me picking up a new (slightly shorter) can and just modifying it.
