Having Mooched around most of Mathewsons entries for Saturdays Auction, amongst many lovely cars including the Alvis and E-Type Jaguars this little Fiat in the flesh I found just gorgeous.

Wildly impractical, and likely to be destined to be put away and preserved rather than used, but you could even do a bit of open toppage in it! and turn a few heads and have a conversation piece if only it was driven around a bit!

If my parents had had their way, that'd been my 1st car. Had it been my (motoring) life might've been rather different.

Has the interest in French Cars finally hit an all-time low on the French Car Forum? 11 of the finest from the three big hitters, and not a single response.

Here's something British and unusual a combination of a British Secret Agent and a French Team! New auction in Scottish Borders just starting out with a handful of classics http://brownandturner.co.uk/classic-cars/

A Bond Equipe!
In student days in Lymm, a close neighbour of ours (who worked for UKAEA, iirc) ran a white one of those, on a mixture of paraffin and petrol. The kerosene was pre-warmed with a copper fuel-line wrapped round the exhaust downpipe. He also had a rather splendid wife called Louise, whose rather splendid lingerie used to adorn the washing line that crossed our shared courtyard. Happy days...

I bet you havent brought that lingerie to mind for some time Chris, pleased I could help!

That lingerie is the manifestation of the best part activity on the FCF. A random post on a Bond Equipe which I could easily not have bothered to post, stirs a memory and generates a response.

Thanks for sharing Chris

It ain't that difficult :-D

My friend's son who used to do my car painting is currently doing a ground up rebuild of a Bond Equipe for a lady customer.

Her deceased husbands pet toy apparently and she wants to keep it as a memoir.

He told me at the weekend that she wants all the bright work re-chromed, blow the expense!

How is the interest in "classic" French Cars? Well this has made it to a classic auction. Limited appeal/Low price or is someone going to fork out over £3,000 for it?

Two points from that post Neil, firstly the good old single spoke steering wheel, had one on my BX19 estate, weird at first but you do get used to it!!
Secondly within the Mathewson's catalogue did you see the 1991 Passat with just 530 miles? Amazing!!
Shortcut here:

I'll be in Mallorca for 10 days from next Tuesday, helping a recently widowed mate sort his house for selling, so not able to get up to the sale but worth keeping an eye on I'd say!! :)

That one remained unsold after the last Auction, and I did kick its tyres as I mooched around. Its a bit of a plain looking thing particularly against the other offerings, but could well be a decent car. If it doesnt sell at the auction it usually goes on the remains available list, where you can negotiate a price.

There's plenty of P6 Rovers in the auction this time, always had a soft spot for them without ever taking the plunge.

There are also two Datsun 280Z's which is a bit unusual

and a 240Z looking a bit worse for wear
