This rather nice 2-tone (Old English White over Cameo) Rover P4 has just appeared on the sales list at Matthewsons for Saturday.

Who knew the Rover 100 P4's doors opened like this....

P1, P2, P3, P4 were all like that - "suicide" rear doors, as they became known as - and a hangover from earlier cars and carriage days. Splendid for rear seat access (and modesty), but not so good if the rear doors weren't properly shut on the move. David Bache's P5 (the 3-litre) finally saw an end to it, perfectly in time for the arrival of the mini-skirt.

A 1999 Peugeot 306 cabriolet, registration number T862 TCF, purple. The Pininfarina designed 306 cabriolet offers tremendous value four seat open top motoring. This example has formed part of a local private collection and is finished in a very striking metallic purple with a contrasting black interior and hood. It is only been offered for sale due to a lack of storage space. V5C, MOT to May 2019

A lovely car with an estimate of £12-£15k, but the buyer's premium of 13.2% on top of that would put me off

To be fair it is clearly stated up front on each listing. Property auction stuff can be a little more difficult to find. As recently pointed out to me a particular well known local auctioneer, has a reservation fee applying to some of its lots depending which "category" they are in. Nice £6,000 fee surprise if you arent switched on. Does it really cost £6000 to make a reservation!!!!!...

Mk1 Fester...what on earth would you do with it?

I'm with you on that Van, guess its nice that at least one of everything get saved for posterity, but the idea of owning a car and never using it is just a million miles from my own mindset.

That Fester made the national press (well - Metro!). Interesting story, glad it was saved BUT - what on earth would you do with it?

My eldest granddaughter's boyfriend has one - in perfect condition.
Was his gran's from new and has only done 35,00 miles.

Her mother (my second daughter) is jealous - her first car was a MK 1 Fiesta too and she loved it.
She now has a Mk III Escort Cabriolet and an MX 5 but really likes the Fiesta.

A friend of mine has decided to take the plunge and "save" his Renault 4CV (760). He has left it in the hands of Renaultreborn of Louth Lincolnshire.

An unpromising start on the back of the trailer, but recent shots of the body shell look solid enough.

colour really suits the Ren 16, which I usually 'picture' in my head in a boring shade of grey; vague recollection of someone I knew as a boy owning one.

I was just about out of a Pram when that was first sold and can imagine it being a very left-field choice; with its bold styling (not to mention a Hatchback - I think) in a world of mostly conservative 'Three Box Saloons'

Odd the things we remember: also realised recently that I can remember my Primary School music teacher's orange Allegro, the Headmaster's black Lancia Beta Berlina (to match his skin, probably one of the first coloured Headteachers); and a similarly orange-ish Daf, probably a 44.

Was recently somewhat surprised to see a 309GTi in a works car park, also in red, someone's daily maybe; nice....
