An MG Midget is more show than go. Definitely not hotted up! I speak as a previous owner of five of the beasts.

Left hooker, rear wing repeater lamps, white wall tyres. Probably trying to run it on ether or something like that.

Never understood the attraction of white wall tyres at all.

When your arse is only about six inches off the ground you definitely get the feeling you're going faster than you really are!

I quite liked the white wall tyres on the huge American sedans of the 50s but not on anything European with the possible exception of a 1950s Roller!! :-D

Here's an interesting conversion that I haven't come across before - one of those "brilliant but why?" jobs :-D

Hmm... That's quite some conversion... The Twin Cam 16V 954cc engine is certainly quite unique...

Seems bizarre the standard XE Base Model instruments were retained and not changed for 205 GTi ones.

I took it to be the full (iron block) 1.6 GTi engine that had been swapped in, so the alloy block 1.0 has gone.

Agreed, very odd decision.

Those seats are £460 each!

Seems an odd engine choice. Down pipe looks very low (well below the front bumper line)

If I was engine swapping a 205 I'd go for:
Alloy block of a 1.8 XU (e.g. base 406) with the cylinder head of the XU10J4RS (the.e. 306 gti-6 / Xsara VTS) probably keep a 5 speed BE gearbox.
Alloy bottom end to minimise the front end weight increase. 5 speed as the BE3/6 well, is a bit too long by all accounts, a car able to turn right seems a handy function :-D

I quite like the original dash with the digital tacho added. Only really missing oil pressure guage but i like the idea of keeping the originl odometer! :-D

I'm sure it is Matt but if you look carefully it's still a 954cc on the V5!

A bit naughty...

As you say, it's all very beautifully done :D

Mick, the proper GTi instrument pack really is a thing of beauty

Are you referring to the 205 or 106 pack Jim? The donor car was a 106 so presumably the only option for this chap was to use the original or the 106 which wouldn't easily fit as the binnacle is smaller. :)

Right, then I agree it would have been nice though I personally don't consider the 205 dash a thing of beauty. Neat and tidy yes but for me an oil pressure gauge mounted centre top between the tacho and speedo would have made it much better.

For me this is a thing of beauty: :-D
