Re: Classic for under £10K
I had one myself, cracking car, did some events in it and won some of them!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Very desirable
Shame it's not a 2-door...

Re: Classic for under £10K
Here's a nice example which I think will be proper to this thread. I know at least one member will have had significant exposure to these, my car maintenance service partner, that I started working with when I was 19, ran the 1750 HL version which was a very competent beast at hauling all our tools and equipment from job to job. We both worked for the GPO in the daytime but did the cars in the evenings and weekends for some extra wonga!!

Couldn't remember whether the Maxi had Hydrolastic Suspension....they did up to 1978 when they were fitted with the Hydragas system.
Neilhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrolastic#Hydragas
The Austin Maxi was the only in production car to feature both systems. The Maxi featured 1100 designed Hydrolastic units with the regulator valve fitted with the interconnection pipe. However, in 1978 production of Hydrolastic bottles at Dunlop came to an end and BL modified the Princess Hydragas bottles to fit. This involved fitting a new front subframe design, with a larger diameter horizontal chamber in the subframe.

Once the very lifeblood of activity and fettling on the FCF.
Is there a market for them now
We may find out this weekend ACA have a Xantia SX TD Estate for sale at no reserve...looks quite presentable but will there be a queue of competitive bidders...
Have a flick through the catalogue maybe the Xantia, maybe something else will capture your interest.
Glenmarch has lots sorted here in alphabetical order of make....page down to C for the Xantia

Re: Classic for under £10K
Many years ago Gibbo posted a picture of a snow covered mystery car that could have been one of these. I don't think we ever did positively identify it
If you want one - ACA have one

I thought that too as I paged down the listThere is also a Mercedes SL320 in blue on the sale list for this weekend.
Neil
There's a brace of them listed, both pre and post facelift models - reasonable estimates on them for a change as well

The previous owner of my one gave me a wadge of old bills and sales bumpf earlier today - I'll put up the advert for it from the classified section of The Times from 1988 onto my blog

Started at £400 and went for £700 Hammer Price. £192 buyers premium on all sales up to £2,000 so £900 ish to drive it away from the sale.NewcastleFalcon wrote: 05 Apr 2024, 19:17 Once the very lifeblood of activity and fettling on the FCF.

Re: Classic for under £10K
It made good money
Good Xantia estates are still very desirable... The trick is to find a good one; now seriously rare...

Here's a nice option for our European members to consider:

Well done Mick. Today's first bit of new content. I do like a coupe. Those listings certainly go in for a bit of comprehensive photography. If a potential buyer was wondering whether to go for the black Manta they would be reassured to find this bit of service history was photographed...
