Yes indeed, a Saxo can rot for England (France)! Hence mine is pickled and saturated in the finest underbody wax

Found a photo of the restored car, must have some more of the restore progress but where?..........Gibbo2286 wrote: 25 Feb 2023, 11:08 When my brother emigrated to Australia in 1970 he got work at British Leyland out there, mostly working on commercial vehicles but when BL went belly up and the factory closed he bought the last Australian built Mini off the assembly line for his daughter, she used it for a few years then it was tucked away in the parking area under their house.
His grandson resurrected it and restored it from the bottom up.
I'll find the photos if I can and post them here.
Wonder what it's worth now.

A green Mini with a white roof is a thing of beauty

Nearly as good as the classic red body with a white roof.

Re: Classic for under £10K
I always had a problem with the Clubman. I thought it looked great but was somehow disloyal to the original Mini Cooper S. Honestly can't put my finger on it but it just felt like I had to like it secretly!!
Of course after the things BMW have done to the Mini Cooper S then it was a mere raindrop in the ocean. I can't believe I saw a new Mini Cooper S Diesel Estate with twin rear doors the other day. What have they done to my car Ma?

Gosh, an AX GT certainly do fetch strong money, even as a pile of spares!

Re: Classic for under £10K
An interesting diversion from the usual offerings, I am slightly tempted to go down this route and this being a rarer petrol option is tempting. The problem is the manual gearbox but if I could make it a hand operated clutch it may be viable. I already have a leisure battery which could go in it if anyone else is inrterested?

I would buy this if only it was auto, but it was the first estate/hatchback that I experienced because my neighbour had one and I loved it!!

Re: Classic for under £10K
Dad had a couple of those back in the 60s... He didn't keep them long... Complained both had whiny gearboxes and back axles... After the last one he got a Mini...
I like them... Pretty little things that have stood the test of time well...

If this new video reports right that yellow TR7 used on "the Detectorists" did indeed sell for over £30,000NewcastleFalcon wrote: 29 Apr 2023, 12:10 This suggests to me that the Triumph TR7 was much more likely to be £3,200 than £30,200.
It would have been a definite sale at a £30,200 hammer price but doesn't show it as a winning bid.
Neil

Really the yellow car was a far worse car than this one. Does featuring in a TV show put £25,000 on a car's value...?
Surely not, but apparently it has on this occasion. PS-edit absolutely no doubt about it. The East Anglian Daily Times confirms that the "Detectorists" yellow TR7, which featured in all 3 series of the programme filmed in and around Framlingham Suffolk, did sell for a hammer price of £30,200 at Mathewsons.

This is described as
1975 Citroen Ami 8
No Reserve - An interesting and rewarding project
Here are the sales at Auction of the Citroen Ami over the last few years as recorded by Glenmarch, most of them in Europe, but the odd UK auction sale.

https://auctions.manorparkclassics.com/ ... 6&pn=1&g=1...With a little bit of fettling this could be a very interesting project as 1970s French cars are now becoming very sought after and quite rare to find, especially in this condition. Get yourself a little bit of French motoring history and stand out from the crowd with interesting project.
