Bit of Discussion about them here after CitroJim spotted an Austin 6cwt/8cwt Pick up on his travels here

A very tidy pick-up in a nice shade of yellow... The colour suits it well :D It was working for its living too...On a J-plate it would have been one of the very last...
November 1970 reg, there were some K reg but that was it. Interesting under the bonnet of that because of the "date" the little green rocker covered engine is most likely to have Austin on it. Indeed is it right that the "Minor" van/pickup was known as the Austin 8 cwt Van.

Haven't the chapter and verse but the last "minor" vans and presumably pick ups may well have ditched the "morris" name.

This is from a K-Reg Van

With Austin and Morris both being part of BMC, the Minor-based Morris commercials were also marketed as the Austin 6cwt and Austin 8cwt with a closed van and open pick-up versions. They were designed for commercial use with small businesses in mind, although many made their way to larger corporations. The van version was popular with the Post Office, with both the van and the pick-up differing from the monocoque construction of the Saloon and Traveller variant by having a separate chassis. They also differed in details such as telescopic rear dampers, stiffer rear leaf springs and lower ratio differentials to cope with the heavier loads.

Interesting Neil, thanks. I started my working life as a GPO apprentice riding around in the green GPO van which I have always thought to be a Morris. Really can't remember enough about the steering wheel or badging as I of course was in the passenger seat! It does make me wonder though!! :-D

The post office ones had governors built into the inlet manifold to stop the posties going too fast. :) a simple effort, just a spacer with a 3/8" hole between the carb and manifold to restrict the airflow.

I think the Austin badged ones only came in late in the game around 1968.

In that case Gibbo, it was 1968 when I was in the van, but the van if I remember correctly was a B reg so that points to it being the Morris then. It certainly had been fitted with the strangler, as the engineers called them, and I remember watching that being done to three new fleet vans one day at the GPO garage in Copsewood Road Watford. :-D

Further to this subject I am watching a repeat of Bangers and Cash, the episode where David makes his debut as an auctioneer, and they have a 1971 J reg Post Office Telephones van in mint condition with all the kit we used to carry. It is a Morris!! :-D

And it has made the astounding price of £13500.00!! Bought for the Scarborough Fairground and Transport Museum. Judging by the look around its well worth a visit if you are up that way! :-D

In a list of cars at the auctions the best measure of natural interest is the ones for which, you click to look at the additional pictures/video. I guess with most auctions I will rapidly scan past any BMW's, Mercedes unless they have the nice painted hubcaps to match the car colour or and are older and have large headlights, Porsche, and most of the exotica.

Most of the very old stuff pre-1950's wont get another click unless particularly cute or a nice colour. So from the list the 2 I looked at more pictures of were the TR7, and the SAAB, but that incarnation of the SAAB looks a little bit too chubby. The TR7 I wouldn't entertain in such a bland colour when there are some gorgeous bright colours used on the model.

So the picture I select is the TR7's Tartan Interior, again not its best incarnation but interesting enough.
