They have one of the last 'E' model Crestas at Mathewsons, I keep seeing glimpses of it but it doesn't seem to have come up for sale yes - unless I missed it. Looks to be excellent.

Re: Classic for under £10K
Thanks Neil. They are a pretty rare car, I had a '55 Velox and a '56 Cresta (like the red one) and the PA came out in late '57, I had one so they couldn't have made that last model for much more than a year. It's like the A40 Cambridge which followed the Somerset, they only made those for about a year and then the A55 Cambridge was released followed shortly by the A60/Oxford Farina.

That's why it's survived so well... All the best cars come from the West Country
All of my current fleet started life down that way!

All the best things come from here Jim.

I remember Wilson Allen well, been gone for many years as have most garages here, block of flats now. There were seven or eight garages in Axminster when we came here, there is one in the town, although I'm not certain that is still there plus Tesco and another on the bridport road.
I used to get my fuel there at one time as it was a penny or two cheaper.

Classic for under £10K?
^^^^ from the archives of this threadNewcastleFalcon wrote: 14 Feb 2015, 14:59Well I have now had a look at the sales prices achieved from previous sales, these two 175's caught my eye from a pure nostalgia point of view.NewcastleFalcon wrote:Just had a peruse down the list of cars coming up for sale at Dorset Vintage & Classic Auctions 19th March 2015 Dorchester.l
Firstly we have a BSA Bantam. A friend of mine acquired one of these in his early teens for farm track usage. At a stroke our "Soap Box" carting a la "Oor Wullie" was overtaken by the sheer excitement of something with an engine! This one at the October 2014 Auction went for £550.
And then we have a Honda CD175 from 1977. In 1979 I bought a four year old one for £180 which in today's money, if this "Historic Inflation Calculator"is accurate is equivalent to £977.49 now.
This one went for £990 at the December 2013 sale.
Regards Neil
I bought the CD175 in January of the "Winter of Discontent" when the rubbish was piled high in the streets and from January to about March it felt the snow and ice never left. Enjoyed that summer with the bike...and yes apart from the nightmare of the journey home I enjoyed that trip immensely. I had a mini 1000 at the time and I sold the bike at the end of the summer having passed my bike test on it in the July for the same price I paid for it.
From time to time afterwards I would go through a phase of wanting to get another bike, but never did, but always enjoyed a bit of a mooch around at Harry Wood's or Ken's on Westgate Road in Newcastle doing a bit of window shopping
