Its not a Humber in its own right Mick, it's a 'modified' Minx.. There were no 'badge engineered' real Humber's.

That 'barn find' Hawk looks like a real challenge. :)

How's the insurance situation on these oldies nowadays?

I dont know first hand. I suspect that the "specialist" classic car insurance policies could well be more expensive than just insuring it as another vehicle with the "ordinary" insurers for an everyday classic intended to be used.

I reckon you could get a Hawk insured for driving around rural gloucestershire for an affordable price. Get one for your Cirencester regular trip, and buy an old Leaf for knocking around the doors just to give the electric thing a try! :-D

Its a different ball game for a high value E-type Jag in the garage, which hardly does any miles from one year to the next, and emerges to get polished every so often. Your insurance there will be more against someone nicking or it getting incinerated in a garage fire. I may be wrong but I seem to recall someone who I was speaking too with a particularly valuable e-type in order to get insurance had to have various alarm systems installed at his home .

I can tell you that my 1972 Stag 3 litre V8 softtop cost me £108 pa fully comp with 5000 miles allowed if that helps!! My MX3, a mere 26 year old youngster costs £118 for the current year. Both with Cherished Car Insurance from Invicta. :)

And I've just renewed the agreed valuation policy on the MGB which ran out today.

5,000 miles p.a. was £132.15. Unfortunately the car is stored on the drive under a cover rather than in a garage as that would have reduced the premium a bit - in fact last year one company refused to even quote because of this.

I could have reduced the premium by reducing the mileage. 3,000 miles would have reduced the premium to £116.99 and 2,000 miles would have been £110.40. In retrospect, given that this year has been so disrupted, I should have done that.

Insurance is through Footman James.

Daffodil costs me £120 on a classic policy via Adrian Flux...

Later this month I'll know how much Sally and Pix will cost on their modern multicar policy. I expect somewhat dearer than Daffodil!

Well I've seen brighter less nylon-ey interiors than this, but very good looking from the outside iMHO.

A friend of mine had one of those back in the day and had a very unusual breakdown. On his way down Porlock Hill in Devon braking heavily because he was following a Granada who didn't want to release his beast, there was an awful bang and a brake pad shot straight up through the bonnet!! Fitted with inboard front discs and the pad retaining clip had sheared and the pad was fired through the bonnet narrowly missing the screen. He was not a happy chappy!

The Nissan Pao seems to have made its way to Mathewsons for their November October sale....(er...different one maybe not such a rarity after all!) Last ACA sale one went for £4,505.

Quite right Peter, sorry about that, he was on his way to Ilfracombe at the time where I was staying with my sister. :)

I very much doubt that this car will qualify for this thread but it looks to be a good example of the fastest 4 door car I have ever owned although mine was white with the Martini Rally logos, shame about the butchering of the rear parcel shelf, that will not be easy to replace!!
